Yep bought the car 5 years ago
And have always wanted a super cool and smooth hot rod and i fellin love with the fleetline bodystyle and have always like the pro street/race style look.
This was great just wrapping it in a 48 chevy shell.

Also yes indeed never welded a lick until this project took my time and of course it was frustrating and threw away some cool ideas that thought just wasnt as nice as they coud be and continued to be patient, and waaaal la.
Fortunetly most of the big fab work is done, its been nice to finally get to the fun stuff like building the console etc.

The car has the "V" theme through out if you really look from the shape of the hand formed bird under the hood to the steering column mount and cover to the designs in the wheels the gauge cluster etc. little hints through out that i wanted to keep as a neat classic looking theme.
Hell maybe i'll call it the "V" ROD lol

Wrapped new rockers under the car 5"s more to the body lip for a cleaner look and to eliminate that ugly body lip that hangs under most cars!

So does the tilt front part roll foward and then lifts and when the car is finished will you be able to tilt the front and open the hood? Yes I had noticed the "V" thing going on and it's those sort of details that make a car outstanding.
Also noticed your little helper racing around the garage looking for more work,very cute just like my little cockapoo.

Very nice job! I feel the same way about the handles. My car started turning too much into a smoothie street rod and keeping the stock door handles is one way to dial it back a bit especially considering the family history of the car. Keeping the stock handles though I can't figure out what to do about locks other than a remote . Are you planning for keyless entry?

Actually im taking the lock units out of the door! so it dosent get accidently locked and just using the handles, the car will not be out of my site anywhere anyway! so just removong them all together besides if someone wants in they will just break a window anyway!

I am considering a lo-jack system for it with all the post and rumors of stolen cars and trailers etc.

As for the front end it actually just tilts forward dosent slide out first what i do is i have to open both doors first then tilt it so the doors dont hit! same way going down!
And yes the top part will be able to open when its tilted aswell but no need to have it open at same time besides i will be running a simple prop rod to hold it up, to remove the akward looking hood shocks makes for a cleaner simpliar look!

The Fleetline is going to be very nice - you're doing a great job.

You'll want to look at the lo-jack coverage areas for where you live, and just as important where you plan to travel before you drop $700 for their system. They have more dead zones across the country than they have coverage.

May be awhile before that gets installed but i have a customer that has a security company i do work for and they should be able to get me up to speed but i think its a great investment!
