Well I was hoping to get some stuff done on the 37 before the car show today but Friday turned into one of those days. Instead of getting some shorter and wider tires on the truck I ended up babysitting a couple grandkids instead. At least I got the old truck into the show today and had a pretty good time. I ran into a few old friends and got to spend some time catching up which made the day go by pretty quickly.
There were about 300 cars and it was a pretty good mix of types. The one I probably spent the most time studying was this one......man it looks like it could be a handful! Talk about a quad.

The 37 was pretty well received. I put it in the under construction category because of needing to fill the gas tank filler hole, upholstering the seat etc. I got a couple "when you gonna paint it" questions, but the vast majority were "leave the paint the way it is" LOL.

There was a bit of icing on the cake.......all in all a pretty good day.

One of the things I wanted to get done before the car show was changing out the rear tires on the Dodge. I’d mentioned to a friend that I was going with something just a tiny bit shorter and wider than what I’d put on. He asked me what size I was changing to and I told him it would be the same size just a different brand and tread.
He didn’t believe me that there was a size difference so I took a couple of pictures. Both tires are mounted on the same rim and have identical tire pressure. even though both tires are 235-70R-15s the new tire is about 1/2" shorter and has about a 3/4” wider contact patch.

The tires I pulled off the truck didn’t go to waste, they are replacing the tires on the back of the Plymouth which are getting a bit thin.

"Well normy, what we got here is the theory of commonality as applioed to the tire buisness,,,,,"", I'm sure Cliff Clavin could explain the variences here! Wild that two same size rated tires vary that much! When ever I get ahead enough to buy tires I will need to go down in the rears on their height and width too! When I got the 48 Ford it had 70's rear fenders mounted, and the beat up original in the bed. I sold the 70's fenders and reinstalled the 48's. losing height and width clearance" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

It’s time to close this thread out. The old 37 is headed to a new home.
It was a fun build (admittedly a long build) but fun non the less. It’s hard to believe it was 20 years ago I originally brought the truck home (and also joined the forum).
When I started having problems with my back some months ago I came to the conclusion that I really needed a car with an automatic that I wasn’t afraid to leave in a parking lot when I went into a store, hence the 68 Valiant. I also needed shop space to build the new car while I still had the ability to. It’s going to go live on the East Coast now.

There are a lot of good memories associated with it to include the conversations we had on the site and the time spent with the grandkids when they would wander out to the shop.
Now it’s time to start making more memories with a new project.

Dang Mike! I'm sorry to see it go but understand why you had to do it. I'm guessing this next build will be more fun for you and the type of fun you can have for many years to come.Ryan
