Ok, where to start? First off, I would like to apologize to Jerry and everyone who was just trying to help with their suggestions and comments. You did nothing I haven't done a thousand times on here, so I should have taken it as just being helpful.
I guess what caught me the wrong way was that we had put in two 12 hour days figuring out the mount and then the subject of needing a center support wouldn't go away. I think I was tired, and also a bit childish.... ok, VERY childish....taking my ball and going home.
I actually had it in the back of my mind about that setup putting a lot of stress on the aluminum bellhousing area, because I remember reading about that years ago when Hurst mounts were being used alot. Something about them being ok with cast iron bellhousings but not aluminum. But I wanted to get further into the build before I thought about that aspect........I could always add the support at a later time.
I called Bob Bendtsen today, who makes the adapter I am using and he said some people don't use any support there, but it is highly recommended. He said some people modify the stock bellhousing mounts to work, and others fab up something off of the 3/4 inch thick adapter plate he includes with his kit.
I think what we will do is maybe weld some wings onto that plate and run some rubber bisquits, one per side, to support the back of the motor there. I looked at it last night, when I put the motor and transmission back into the car, and there is plenty of room to do that.
