30 Model A Tudor
Here’s a ‘30 Model A Tudor I finished awhile back. My dad had picked up the body panels over the years but got sick and never got a chance to build it, his plan was to turn it into a pickup cab by chopping the length. I got the panels from him and had the basic car completed before he passed away, he did get to see it, not really his kind of build but that’s another story.
The frame is Model A boxed front to rear with an S10 rear end, the suspension is from Speedway Motors. The wheel based was stretched 8”, 3” in the front and 5” in the rear. The panels are welded to 1/2 square tube frame, after assembly I chopped it 5”. The grille is out of a 1938-40 White diesel truck, something dad had planned to use.
It’s got a ‘72 SBC 4 bolt and a 5 speed from a 1986 Camaro, with custom pedals and linkages using Wilwood clutch and brake master cylinders. The steering gear box is off a Vega.
I’ve restored several cars but this was my first hand built ride. The first couple of test drives were good but the first time I drove it over 50 mph it scared the crap out of me when some suspension induced steering tried to make it go right when I wanted to go left, a panard bar fixed that.

Very nice. I really like the grille and the chop looks right. What size box end wrenches are the bumpers made from? Kool idea.
I am gathering parts (and ideas) for my '31. I will start that as soon as the van project wraps up.
