Well, still a productive day! She runs and sounds good is always a good feeling.. sucks 'bout the oil seal tho.. Are you going to pull the motor because you cannot drop the pan because it will hit the chassis? Do you know of any parts houses in your area that sells something besides Fel-Pro? That's all that is available in my area, we used to have a different company around here called Detroit Gasket. I used them a few times and they worked ok...

We use rope packing at work for pump stuffing boxes. If you get stuck, PM me and I can get most any width.

I could get the pan off with the motor in the car but they had told me to put RTV on the back of the seal so I dont think I'll be able to roll it out from under the crank. I might have to pull the crank back out but Im hoping that's not the case. Still, it might be worth a shot to just pull the pan and try it. Pan has to come off either way.

I can honestly say I've neve heard of anyone requesting RTV for a main seal! I'm not saying it isn't done nor it was or wasn't recommended.. I just haven't heard that one yet. The rear seal on my FE390 fit loose. It filled the void but wasn't snug like I would've preferred. I did put a dab of RTV on the seal end.. "just because" it made me feel better!

I think you could drop the pan and remove the seal with the motor in place.. depends on how much RTV was used to "glue" it in.. I'll cross my fingers and eat some ice cream for you!
