and, for my "Someday" build, I'm gonna........
Just a fun thread, guys!!!! Tell us about that crazy plan floating around in the back of your brain, or maybe on a sketch pad or notes in a notebook someplace! You know, that project that's on your "Round Tu-it" list. Maybe you've already accumulated some of the pieces, or just have a list someplace of the parts you want to use to build that one-off creation that really says everything about you and Hot Rods! Or maybe it's still just a dream, or would that be a nightmare?
What's it going to be?? Tell us about it!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I'm a hard-core "hot rod, drag race, kinda guy"... but when I win that darned lottery.... :-)~
I love all kinds of cars... but in my early years I went through a string of early Vettes. Later I got involved with devin restorations and builds.
For those who don't know, Bill Devin was a factory Ferrari driver... but he is better know as an early pioneer of the kit car industry, building many sizes of Italian looking sports cars called Devins.
I first saw them as Modified Sports class drag cars... like Joe Lunati's Trouble Maker... and Dean Moon's famous Mooneyes car that made many headlines at the drags, bonneville, and Pikes Peak. As the Devin company evolved, they started building turn key cars with either Corvair... or CORVETTE engines!!! The Corvette powered cars were the "Devin SS" model, and only a handfull were built. For a Chevy devotee like me... it was the ultimate Chevy "Cobra killer"!
The blue SS car pictured has an added roll bar, scoops, and aircleaners... but the body, wheels and windshield are similar.
I added pictures of a Roger McCluskey built, "kit bodied", red car. Roger never finished it, but 10-15 years later, I spent a couple years completing for the customer. I don't know where it is today.
I eventually acquired 2-1/2 SS body shells... kept one... and when I was struggling to run my first full-time business, I sold it to an out-of-state customer.... and we built it up to a roller for him, ready for the Vette engine to be rebuilt... and paint and upholstering. Then we shipped it. Pictures of that primered car are below. {:-(
I will never get over living part of my fantasy, then having to give it up. I still can access some partial molds I made... a Devin C (Corvair powered model) that has a partially identical body.... and the result would be a clone of those beautiful little "SS" rockets!
Now I just need those winning lottery numbers, so I can retire from painting and start welding up the chassis, and slinging fiberglass! Maybe someday...

Well, I already have my Cobra replica. Back in the late 60's and early 70's when I used to drag race out here at the infamous "Fremont Drag Strip" there was a Morris Minor with a blown Chevy in it. I always wanted to build a small car with a big engine in it. Just for the sh!ts and giggles of it. But now if I remember correctly, that Morris Minor could not even get a 1/16 of a mile and it was completely out of control. Of course with the suspensions of today you could correct a lot of that but I bet it would still be one he!! of a ride.Bug

As a kid staying on my Grandfathers farm when it was school holidays,he had a 1928 Ford model A pickup parked up beside the milking shed that I loved playing in. I have always wanted one and know down to the last detail of how it would look.... Side valve V8, triple carbs, generator, 5 speed gearbox and old banjo style diff. Old wire wheels with big and little tyres, fully fendered with bumpers front and rear, nice shiny two tone paint with the correct rake, yeah that is it and if only I too could win the Lottery. Somthing close to this.GNWN010.jpgI maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Sounds like you need to check out Club Cobra, Quince - Welcome to Club Cobra...The world's largest non-biased Cobra site! - Club Cobra
I've got this idea floating around to do a scratch built Hiboy Woody, kind of a 'phantom' style with suicide doors and a nice profile with some angles as opposed to upright sticks. Just an idea at this point....Roger

I used to have a wish list and count myself very fortunate to have built a lot of the cars that were on it......and a lot that weren’t) and I’m still working on one of them, the HEMI powered 37 Dodge truck.
A there are a couple left, but unfortunately I feel most of the builders are now priced at a lot more than I would pay for them......1964 Fairlane and a 62-65 B body Plymouth or Dodge (2dr Post cars). Should have bought them when they were a bit more plentiful LOL.I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

My wish is to finish what I have. Growing up AMC, I always wanted a Hudson, Nash and AMC. I have a 40 Nash Lafayette, 55 Hudson Metropolitan and an 80 Spirit. The Nash has a 304 sitting in it, the Metro is stock and the Spirit has a 401. As a bonus car, I always wanted to race but my life insurance is void if I get hurt so racing is not worth the risk. But I have a 55 Chevy stock car that I am building and it will be street legal and powered by an AMC 360. If I ever get these done, I do have body panels for a Metropolitan and thought it would be fun to build a t bucket type car with them.

Someday? Hmm.. I want one of everything so.. Where to start?? I wanted to do a "Track T" type roadster.. but then I stumbled across this 34 frame so I did the 3 window instead. So I guess I still want the T... or maybe another Mustang/Shelby? Or another Cougar?? Or El Camino?? Or how about a duece coupe this time or???
Dang It Dave! See what you started??

The first (of many) on my "Someday" list is going to be a late 60's-early 70's Fairlane or Torino wagon, modified to be a two door wagon, powered by a 4.6 Mod Motor, overdrive transmission, and all the comfort bells and whistles....complete with two Simpson kids seats in the back and a DVD player on the back side of the center console so Lexi and Lesha can go cruizin' with Grandpa!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I could go on a while on this topic, but here’s list of cars I would own if I were to come into a gazillion dollars. No particular order, but all ones that would be in my stable if cost were no issue:
1. 1940 Ford. Painted deep burgundy with a late model Ford engine and automatic transmission and nice highway gears. Independent frond end (Fatman or similar) and coil rear suspension. Nice camel colored leather interior, tilt column, lots of soundproofing to allow freeway cruise. Vintage air and cruise control to enhance a two hundred mile leg of a journey to be pure comfort. Nice CD player (okay – MP3 too!!). Not a muscle car, but a classic cruiser.
2. 1955 Stepside – copper or burnt orange with flames. Lowered a “titch” with Crager SS chrome wheel and nice fat tires. The bed would be oak finished so beautiful it would look like it came from Ethan Allen furniture. Stainless steel bed strips polished to look like chrome. LS engine with billet in the right places and 200R4 to 3:90 gears. Leather “tuck&roll” and dice from the mirror. Classic style instruments with a tilt column and very aggressive Flowmaster mufflers with turn down tips. This one would burn rubber on command, but still be civilized enough to drive to the local A&W.
3. 1967 SS 396 Chevelle – Marina Blue with stock black SS interior. Sits up a bit with five spoke American Mags (gray with natural aluminum). Monster 502 with stock appearing 396 valve covers and air cleaner. Holley Dominator or maybe dual quads if I could get the perfect look on a chrome reproduction air cleaner. Rock crusher built to handle the 600 plus horsepower. Hooker ceramic coated headers, 3” stainless exhaust and 50 series Flowmasters. This one would launch and hookup with a 4:11 (highly engineered to allow nice big tires inside the wheel wells). I would actively seek any Japanese rice-rocket and eat them all gone with no apologies.
4. 1965 Impala SS 396– deep red with subtle ghosted flamed. Black leather bucket seat interior with carpet an inch deep. Upgraded suspension all around to include four wheel disc brakes. Modern 454 with modest roller cam and excellent street manners (of course I’d commission Pat build all these motors!!) – Another 200R4 and Hooker ceramic coated headers and 2-1/2” stainless out just past the rear bumper. Lots of sound deadening, electric windows, air conditioning, cruise control, etc. This would be my wife’s daily driver and our “go-to-church-on Sunday” car.
5. 1965-70 El Camino – maybe a couple years as I believe everyone should own at least one El Camino in their lifetime. Silver, red or Marina Blue – black interior is a must. I think God must use them in heaven for casual hauling of stuff. Engine(s) could be SB or BB. Transmissions, 4-speeds or Turbo 400 – doesn’t matter. A couple nicks or scratches in the bead would be fine as I’d of course, have a tonneau cover.
If this doesn’t happen here, come by and visit my garage in heaven and you’ll see them all!!

All I want to do,is to get Lynda's Customline finished,so we can start on the 60 Galaxie 4dr h/top,,390/4sp,a tad lower than stock,,pretty much Larry Watson style paint job,in close to original colors, and get started on the 29 roadster, which I am collecting bits and pieces for now..That will be running Y block and 4 sp,bobbed rears, cycle fenders and maybe slightly channeled..Then,if I am still breathin, the F100 will get a make over,as it will have finished its working days,,(along with me) Apart from that,,I would like a 32/5w with a 2'' chop, mild channel job, baby Hemi,4speed,bobbed rears, cycle fenders, and a few grands worth of fuel so me and my doll can hit the highway for a few months..yahoo..Micah 6:8
If we aren't supposed to have midnight snacks,,,WHY is there a light in the refrigerator???

Hotrodpaint, not to divert/hijack the thread, but that Devin looks similar to the Scarab's of the 60's. There's a little shop here in Gardner that's brought the Scarab back, building the space frames from scratch, and they found the shop over in the eastern block (maybe Poland?) to make aluminum body panels to original specs - the same shop that did Cobra bodies for Shelby back in the day. The Scarab's are super cool, as were the Devin's! Scarab | Kultured Customs
