Most of these people don't have trucks to use as trucks. They just want one to have one I guess. This guy is having issues with the truck lugging at 70mph. Yep, 40" tires. stock 3:73 gears, and a large single turbo=Wrong RPM range and more head aches. But it looks cool?Ryan

I haven't driven it so I'll have to use a program to calcuate it. Plus, his instrument cluster is for a gas truck, not a diesel, and the tach reads around 500rpm off. He has been using his edge cts to monitor RPM's. But he never gives an rpm number when he calls me telling me what it is doing. Haha
It has a 4R100 trans, and OD is .71. So it's around 1558 since the tires are worn it could be a little more. That is well under the turbo RPM range. He's working on getting different tuning to change the trans shift points, but that isn't going to help. It needs different gears or smaller tires. Part of the draw backs of going with an aftermarket turbo.Last edited by 40FordDeluxe; 03-28-2017 at 01:30 PM.

I had a 1995 with 3:55 gears--was great
1999 has over 500,000 miles and just put 2017 aluminum bed on it plus some 2007 Harley doors

This weekend I decided it has been too nice out to not be driving something old and cool. So, on Saturday, I drug out another front axle I had and brought it home so I could rob the knuckle off it to use on mine. (I'm going to send mine to the machine shop and let them have the fun of drilling out the broken studs.) While I was at my parent's place I got the corvette out and washed the dirt and bird poop off it. I found that it had oil coming out of the exhaust. After I washed it when I went to put it back, there was no more oil coming out. It had to be one of the turbos. That will be work for another day. That is just another good reason to not let something sit for a long time and do nothing with it..............
I didn't have time to get the 72 tore apart before we left to go out for supper for my B-day. We went to Sully to pick up some friends to go with us. My friend text me letting me know to be careful in town because it was Prom night and all the kids were out in daddys car tearing the town up. Apparently the town allows the kiddos to drive around town so they can parade around their clothes and rides. At 6 o clock they drive through a destined route up to the school where they get out, take pics, and the parents park their vehicles for them. Pretty cool IMO. There were a lot of cool rides running around. 67 GTO with a blower, 70 nova, 73 T/A 4 speed car, a cool old scout, an IH rat rod, some newer mustangs, a Z06 vette, and of course the diesel trucks.
Sunday I had to do my yard work and once that was done I was able to get the knuckle removed from the 72 and I also stole the one from the donor axle. This morning I cleaned up the donor knuckle and steering arm/top plate. I installed new seals and king pin bushing, and got the knuckle back on. Tomorrow morning I'm hoping to finish it up before the rain moves in. I decided to go with a different drag link and eliminate the steering block. Less stress than the block, and cheaper than the cross over steering. I really just needed to get this truck back together so I can use it. I need to haul scrap, garbage, and who knows what else.Ryan

Now I need to spray for weeds, in between wind storms and rain storms. Than I need to fertilize it so it'll grow faster? Yeah, that is a great idea.......Ryan

My wife says "Oh, don't you want to fertilize?".. I spit out, NOPE! but I may do one of those weed and feed deals.
I really need to just re-do the whole lawn but I think I'll just do it in sections.. when I have time of course! roflmao!

I hear you on the stupid lawns, they don't give that fertilizer away either. I live a few miles away from civilization so I spray for weeds and such but I don't go overboard. Can't see my house from the road anyhow.Seth

My garden is doing pretty well, and I have it all mulched in. I use grass clipings for mulch, which means my acre is looking pretty good, even the leaves along the fence are mowed up and in the garden.
My toy is on jack stands, its insurance set to storage and its battery is in the van..
