Great job on those mounts; this has got to be my favorite truck build.

Honestly, I don't know. It must have not left the farm very often. When I purchased it, the PO said he baught it from a farmer down the road. He said it had been sitting by some grain bins for years. It sure had evidence of critters living in it for a very, very, long time. He yanked the engine and I baught the truck off of ebay. It was west of Minneapolis about an hour or so. The truck had the normal rust these have, but mild really. The area above the windshield was rusty, but the bed was really nice. Aside from the huge dent in the RH rear bed side.

    Little drivel of progress

I've been wanting to get a new center piece for my grill emblem made but haven't had any success in getting it done. I just wanted the same shape as an original, but with a Cummins C in the center and ball milled to look like a factory one on the sides. The cheapest quote I got was $500. I passed on that and will go down that road later. So, plan B. I like the look of carbon fiber and found some carbon fiber mat that has an adhesive backing. I got a roll off fleabay and covered the original center piece. I had a thought of doing the glove box applique and gauge cluster, and replace the wood grain in the mouldings with it too. That might be a bit too much. We'll see. It was a cheap alternative.

My wife and I have been house hunting for a little while, and I didn't think it would be happening this fast.... We accepted an offer on a place and I basically have a month to get a truck ready to do moving duties. I had been buying parts for my 76 crew cab short bed project I have since I sold the 95 F350. Well now the fastest thing to do is to get the Longhorn going. So, for this time and minute, this is the plan.

I have been selling everything I haven't used or moved in a while. Doing that, I was able to purchase a front bumper. Hopefully it will be here in 3 weeks. It is a RLC Fab bumper. I was going to go with a DIY4X Gauntlet but I wanted my winch covered up. I also got a Champion 12k winch to go in the bumper, and I also got some rear lights for my White Rhino Fab rear bumper.

I bit the bullet and got another display unit for my DD gauge cluster. I still have to decide where to mount it.

Next I finally located 3 more 16.5x9.75 stock type steel wheels. I purchased the black ones from another forum member last year, and haven't been able to find any near me since. I had to go to the infamous Doug's 4 Wheeler's in Pella Iowa to get these. He has nearly anything you want there for a 67-72. He was telling me these wheels are referred to as Co-op wheels because back in the day all the co-ops wanted to run wider tires and keep a stock hub cap to keep the crud off the lug nuts. He also said they are the new trend and he can't keep them in stock. That explains why I've been having such a hard time finding more. He has a lot of cool stuff there and I need to stay away. He has a 38 Ford Tudor that I need to go get some headliner pieces out of for my 40. I really thought about buying it for a project but then slapped my self and said get the hell away from it.

Currently I am waiting for the centers of 3 of my wheels to get opened up so they will fit over the hubs of my D80. Then they can go to be sand blasted, then powder coat. I'm trying to liquidate more stuff so I can buy 35s to put on these too. I still haven't decided on white or black for the wheels and bumpers. I have to put a new fuel system on Allyson's Excursion, then I can get back to the Longhorn.

Thanks, and yep. The project list is getting smaller. I'm down to 2 trucks, 2 cars, and the wife's Excursion. I was going to sell my tractors to fund a 560 I want to buy, but the kids get more enjoyment out of them than the 560 will cost, so I'm keeping them. I'll sell other stuff to get the 560 later. If scrap gets back up a little, a lot of stuff is going there. Haha

Yeah it is. I wanted to build my own, but I didn't want to have 120hrs in one either. The new place is really needed as we are expecting another little one in October now too.

Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Heck Yeah! Congrats to you and the missus! That's great!

I was coughin' and chokin' over here when I thought I read you were considering the "S" word and a tractor! "Sell"? Sacrilage! LOL..

Tractors and kids just go together for some reason.. I traded away 3 others to get back the 47A that we grew up with!

Yeah, my 4yr old daughter will be really mad at me if I sell the 52 A. I had it traded last year and when I told her I was selling it she got all mad and told me I could sell all my cars and trucks, but not her tractor. Hopefully I have enough scrap laying around to put a good chunk on the 560 project. It's getting close to grass growing season so I'll have to take the 3pt off my Super H to put the woods mower back on it. Then I'll be without the 3pt. Haha

I went and picked up my wheels from the machine shop. Tomorrow they go to the blaster. Then to powder coat. But I still haven't decided on white or black. The wheels will be the same color as the bumpers I'm thinking. Any thoughts? I also ordered the Compushift Mini for the 47rh. One more bigger priced item off the list. Now to decide on some audio stuff and then I should have most of everything I need to start the wiring on this truck. I still need to get a good brake controller. The list never ends. Haha

I've got one red one and one green one. Other than a 560 with a wide front, I don't think I'll be adding any to the fleet for a while. Sometime soon, this winter hopefully, I have to get the kids' mini tractor built. Who said what about projects?
