That wasn't the same bus too - was it???

I guess those drivers need practice approaching the big (huge) yellow block in the road ahead!?!? sigh...

No, different one, I haven't touched this one yet. He has about 20 in his fleet so I'm hoping for a dry spell after this one.

New apprentice starting this Tuesday night, just in time for all the yellow
parts we'll be fixing!

Another distraction! Never know what you see pull into the shop. Got a phone call earlier this week to look at a damaged trailer...





Apparently someone that had borrowed this for an event did not understand the operation of a Bulldog coupler. Near as we can tell, the split coupler was never compressed when the collar was moved forward, so it rested against it. With a bit more force they were able to insert the safety pin, and the first bump started the chain of events.


Looks like the did some plowing in the grassy area of our local county fair...








....just before making contact with the back of the tow vehicle..





Inside the operating room on Tuesday night, Jake and I pulled off the carnage of exterior shell... The corner upright had been broken clean off its welds..








....as well as sporting a nice bow...










Since we had the correct size square tubing in stock, we cut a piece to length, welded in place, then Jake abraded with the DA and painted with some SPI epoxy primer.











The wiring harness also took a beating, we picked up a new harness from TSC and will get that installed tonight, and see if we can get the outer skin bent and installed..

At least this one has less... "curves" than those big yellow boxes. 8-)

Nice work. At least it came unhooked at low speeds and not on the high way.

It showed up without samples. No trust..


Some progress from this past weekend.... trimming the painted aluminum panel prior to bending the long folds





Installed.....





Added new hooks on the safety chains





....new wiring harness,





....fabricated a new handle and used a bicycle grip, replacing the duct tape repaired original....





Roof seams were sealed using mesh to help make the repairs more permanent..





All ready for some keg action.. Painted panel was owner supplied, he had ordered it to make an outfield sign at a local ball field, re-purposed it to get the keg trailer back in one piece for a large wedding this coming weekend.

Didn't even leave you (us?) some samples?? Oh well.. maybe next time.

Other than the color change, it came out well and fast.

What Mike said. They probably figured if samples were left, the project would take longer.

Did the driver of the blue truck fail to read the signage on the back of the bus? I suppose it is hard to see the big yellow buses while texting? Please people, watch out for school buses, children, and motorcycles, put that damn phone down and drive!!!!!.....
PS: Glad to see he did more damage to his truck than what was done to the bus.....LOL....RooDog
