yeah i know it looks like a tank chassis but it is only 2mm wall thickness so it,s quite light, one person can easily lift it. the strength will come when its welded into the body as the original one was.wanna be a proper hot rodder.

i know what you mean about the rover not being the most powerfull but i have two engines , a low compression range rover engine which the car will be made road worthy with and a sdi block which will have all the right parts to exploit the 36 pounds of boost the t4 turbo will take.as for the chassis it will be a monocoque once its welded back in to the body with all the floors.wanna be a proper hot rodder.

read up quite a bit on turboing the rover lump and i think a steel crank, h beam rods and forged pistons are the way to go and to keep it a 3.5 as there seems to be a lot of hassle when enlarged to 3.9. not after building a race car but it would be nice to have a nice bit of power.wanna be a proper hot rodder.

just kind of like the rover, i know what you mean by pricey, crank £1500.00, h beams £600 and forge pistons £600.wanna be a proper hot rodder.

One of my cars is turbocharged and I've been hammering on that one for 13 years. My casual observation is that too often people run more boost than the octane can safely sustain so they knock, detonate, and trash the bottom end and/or pistons. If you keep boost and ignition timing within reason the motor should hold up quite well.Nick

That chassis is very robust; I would never have thought of doing it that way...I reckon it (the chassis and mounts,) will take anything you want to put through it.

cheers for the comments,
big update today, got the front chassis rails tacked in place and bolted on the front suspension and the wheels.
even with the narrow front end and the engine set back everything seems to fit ok.
even got more than enough lock to lock.more pics tomorrow.wanna be a proper hot rodder.
