I got back to playing with my home made 4x2 intake. Finished up welding it ,after finely filling my tanks again. So time to test for leaks, made up some block offs from hose an plywood to seal up each part. Add some air psi from tire fill valve stuck in the hose. Then I sprayed them with soapy water an looked for bubbles, sure enough had some leaks to foam up. Marked them with a prick punch an rewelded,an reground welds to look kind of OK. Had to repet that 3 times before I got no bubbles anymore. So next is to take the two parts over to a buddys that has a two foot+ long beltsander and let him just make gasket places flat. Leaks at were the plywood seal was didn't matter, just payed no mind to those.Last edited by The Bat; 10-14-2015 at 05:04 AM.

Looking good Bat. It'll be fun to see it all put together and running!" "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

4x2 together
So I don't have to bend over so much,I put my homemade 4x2 together on a mock old motor on the stand. Finely got things cleaned up an painted,so got all those little things I think, that would be running around for at the last min. Idea being,I'll just put the completed thing on to hotrod LOL Anyway did some extra dealtail an polished all the stainless allins ,screws, clamps and acrons, found a little of my red hose too.

WOW, looking cool Bat, I am envious of the four carb set up as I only have three on my SBC but have always loved the four carbie set up as on the famous 1932 5 window Coupe painted a similar colour as your engine.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I got the 4x2s on my rod, running way to rich now,I think I blow the power valves when it backfired,so have some new parts coming for next week an try some good tuning If any one has tuning ideas? For 4x2s,they are Ford 94s=all matching# inside an out,new kits ,with 1.5lbs psi fuel an no float over flow. Matched idel screws with U-a-snik

Curious, are you running idle circuits on all four? Not sure of the right answer with the log manifold, four carb layout but with 3x2's only the middle one has the idle circuit and the two outers are mid-range to WOT only, right? Maybe all four the same is the only way with the log.... Again, just curious.Roger

The 4x2 layout of the log set up,makes it,that all four work together at one time. If it was only one log in the center with 4 carbs lined up front to back, sure it would be possible to have something like 3x2 set up were you could start out on center carbs an then open ends, but that would also not flow as well to each port. Later next week,I'll take some more time to do tuning an see if me an my buddy Mike can get it all running better.Last edited by The Bat; 12-05-2015 at 09:18 AM.

Yeah, the more I looked at the picture there's no way to use one, or even one per log. I expect that once you start seeing improvement it's just a matter of homing in on the jet size, making tiny changes in all four, then double checking the flow balance before making a run and shutting down to pull a few plugs. Might actually be a neat project to spend some time with.Roger

you can try dialing them in one at a time by covering the other 3 carbs also make sure you don't have an issue of severe throttle shaft wear leakage---
by covering 3 of them and working on them individually you can quickly identify any particular one that is wayyyyyyyyyy out------
