That was really nice of him and good on you for seeing what he did. Anymore you can't hardly help anyone without getting something bad in return and you won't even know it at the time.Ryan

Started trying to do the wood lip around the rear of cockpit,so it will both hold snaps for top and the upholstery under it. I looked at some Oak to do it with, but cost was 3x what popluer was,,going to stain it anyway to kind of match steeringwheel ,dash and rear rack

Thinking about what to do for upholstery?Kind of stuff I do when I'm out of parts for a time!
If you can make your self a drawing.
Trying to think ahead some on what to do helps on my old rod. This time,I know I will not put it back all black like it was=too hot to set on in Florida sun,but back then the black vinyl was a free-B from Nuwt.
Anyway I'm painting rod the same way ,all hi gloss black, with the yellow motor.
Thinking black and yellow upholstery to match. But this time, were we're sitting mostly yellow with black outer framing.
Here's how I'm working out my ideas. I first make my self a drawing with just out lines shown in fairly plan photo,no detail and copy that a few times so I can then add detail a few other ways.
I only did 1/2 the detail here cuz I got lazy after trying to do too much on the first drawing in next post.,but same design both sides with black about 5 or 6in. panel down center
I'm liking #2 drawing cuz door an side panel match seat best, both have two yellow roll-n-plates panels. Rug all black.Last edited by The Bat; 10-02-2013 at 06:36 PM.

What an excellent idea with the drawings. Have you thought about using an off white / cream colour upholstery with the yellow insert ? There is a guy on the Hamb building a T who is living in Arizona and he has the same problem, black upholstery is too darn hot for sitting on so is going with a white trim. Another idea is all white with yellow piping around the edges.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Hi Whiplash23T,thanks,
I've been playing with ideas, using the yellow as every were I'm actully setting ,but keeping the black also that I had in her in highschool kind of helps me not to get too far from how I had the old gril. These were some other ideas I did on drawing, but turned out the one I like best is with two panels that match seat.Last edited by The Bat; 10-02-2013 at 03:33 PM.

No, the top or first drawing is the way to go but that is just my humble opinion too.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I kinda like the second one with the diamonds touching, it's unique and a cool design." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.
