Now don't do what I did when grinding some welds, I had the workshop up in flames as I hadn't watched to see where the sparks were flying and they caught some on cleaning rags on fire. The silly thing was that I could smell something burning but was so busy grinding and didn't want to stop the fire was really going for it by time I decided I should have a look. Luckily no major damage was done but a lesson learnt. Oh those little suckers ( the sparks ) will damage glass windows as quick as too so always check to see where they go.
On the leading, try tinning the panel where you want to fill first also as that will help the lead stick.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Hello Whiplash ! Thanks for the input on the lead work, its new to me but, like I said I hate bondo ! With the fire thing I'm very watchful, had more than one fire get started from shop work, usually just rags laying around the vehicle I was working on, never any damage just lots of smoke.

Yes, good on you with the bracing in the cab as one would be surprised how much it takes to put a body out of square with a twist. I like the rotisserie too and it certainly makes life easier for the body repairs and priming. Keep up the excellent work my friend.

Thanks for the complements guys.
I found a local guy that has a 40 ford pu with and extra bed and rear fenders, no drive train, wants $1500.oo for it. Looking at it tomorrow, hoping its not a big pile of rust. All I really want is a good hood and a tail gate.

News update:; New hood was acquired along with a new roof, the rest of the cab was junk ! Myself and a friend bought the 40 ford p/u that I mentioned in my last post, picked it up for $1000.oo , got a whole truck minus motor and trans, plus and extra bed and 3 extra rear fenders . I also got a 40 ford Deluxe car hood in the deal. My share was $400.oo and I think that's a great deal for the hoods and roof and also got the original seat springs and ply wood bottom and whats left of the riser ( it'll make a good pattern). Planning on selling off the Deluxe hood. Now I just have to get this stuff blasted and primed so I can start putting all the parts together.

Make sure you get the upper grille support piece compatible with the hood latch. 40 and 41 are different (with the exception of some early 41s using carryover parts).
Also check around the back edge of the hood around where the hinge brackets are, there's usually a number of small stress cracks that need to be repaired.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Very solid and tidy, those patch panels certainly help with jobs like this and safe a heap of work forming your own.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.
