Ok This is the Se5 start up for the first time after hours of synchronizing the twin mags, they trail one behind the other a bit don't remember the the degrees, coupled together to the engine with coupling disc like devices loaded with springs to keep them all in place . Yes that's my thumb in the video I had to hold on to my hat and camera as the dust/dirt was flying around, even at idle you've got to lean into the wind to walk up to the cockpit. The plane is gone to its owner in Va. I retired from building aircraft but still go see whats happening at the shop once in while, maybe I'll get some pic's of the Tommy and post them. No that's not a rubber prop bending HA HA

The plane is back at the shop for repair, they flew it without enough fuel and crash landed in a corn field, broke wings, landing gear, motor mounts and a $10,000 radiator. Its just about repaired now. I think I'll see if Forest Gumps Moma can go supervise the next flight.

    see post 806 for video

The math behind the magic bending prop would make an interesting lecture.

I'm pleased with it, it was not really a restore it was mostly built from raw materials except for the metal fittings, gauges and engine. I could have built 3 or 4 hotrods in the time I've spend working on these plane over the the last 10 years. Now I hope to at least finish this 40 for next summer .

just spent some time looking back through my post and now I'm wondering what the hell happened ? It seemed I was making progress and now its a crawl forward with leaps backwards. If I don't get this in paint by April it will go up for sale and I'll take up knitting.

I'm right there with you. I was making good progress on mine and then life and everybody else's stuff came first again.

If it helps, I got so sick of working on mine I'm actually thinking about cleaning house and purging myself from all my other projects. But on the same note I'm glad I finished it.
