I've see a number of people painting hot rod body parts one at a time and I wonder if there is any worry of the metallic not matching. I always tried to paint a car all at once for the fear of that happening. These old cars with so many body panels, it would certainly be easier to paint each piece over a period of time. I know that I have not had luck when I have had to go back and spot repair a panel, it never matches. I've been spinning my brain around wondering how to paint my many Stude body parts when the time come. Of course the old cars are different than the new bodies, a lot the parts jut out a different angles and don't all lie flat next to each other like the newer cars.

I have been told as long as its out of the same can you should be ok. Rita's parts got painted at different times and it matched perfectly but it was not a metallic either. I had a fender repair on my silver T/A and even though it was blended, it does not match that well, although there is a 25 year difference in the paint.Seth

So paint the parts as you go, then a final light coat after assembly?.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

That paint looks so deep you could almost swim in it.
