I used the Juliano's kit on my coupe and yes it does stick up a bit, mostly the edging that covers the aluminum edge.

I used a thinner foam than was in the kit and I think that helps the look a lot. I did make the wooden frame to hold the vinyl taut while I installed the aluminum edge.

Sweet ride Mick! I think it will look even less noticeable with mine being a Tudor. I have wood for mine as well but I'm just using two 2X4's for the sides because it is just me, myself, and I. Pretty hard to put a wooden frame over a sedan by yourself. Though I will admit my sweetie does help out a lot. Did you glue your foam down?

I don't know about lightness. I'm pretty sure my glass Tudor is heavier than a steel one. I've seen pictures or 4 guy's lifting a body onto a frame and we had 6 and it was a struggle. Or course carbon fiber is another story all together.

Jim, yes I glued the foam down but not the vinyl. If you haven't already done yours I have some photos of how i did mine I could post, but sounds like you may have a handle on it.

Thanks Mick, that was the only thing I was wondering about. I picked up the glue this afternoon but wasn't sure if I was going to use it. As with most thing I do: I learn as I go and this kind of thing is right up my alley. Plus I run through things in my head a few time before I start so I have an idea of what to expect. Probably think too much and not enough doing. LOL But it seems to be working for me on this build; so far anyway.

I took my time and bent all the aluminum channels for the soft top and I got them all laid out. I'm happy with the way it's coming out so far. I got the rivets, adhesive, and my drill at the ready and I think tomorrow I am going to commence drilling about 300 holes (just a guess) in my roof.

Just one more thing and then I'll leave you alone. I drilled undersized holes and used short self tapping screws as I was concerned about the rivets cracking the fiberglass, plus my car had the headliner in it when I did the insert.

No need to leave me alone. I welcome peoples thoughts. Lord knows I could use all the help I could get. I bought the rivets already and I don't think it's going to be an issue. I know of two guy's locally that have glass cars and they riveted theirs on. I'm actually more concerned about weakening the structural integrity of the roof drilling close to 300 holes in it.

But you will be filling those holes Jim and with using the ali tube frame thingy if anything, should be slightly stronger but then it is New year day here almost finished and I have had a beer or two so you may want to ignore me after all. It will look absolutely brilliant and we all have extreme faith in everything you do..

Ha! I just drilled the first hole (rear center) and the nail end of the rivet barely pokes through to the inside. So it's over an inch thick!!!! That could be why it weighs so much.!?(Roll eyes) On the sides I used a visegrip C-clamp to measure the thickness at each door opening and it's almost 3/4". So it's looking more like self tapping screws or some tiny button head screws and locknuts. I have the buttonheads and they are stainless. So much for worrying about the structural integrity of the roof being compromised.

We covered the car in plastic sheets and glued on the foam, cut it to size, and removed all the tape and plastic. Then I laid out the vinyl and let it warm up and unwrinkle. Threw my daughter inside and had her poke the holes through while the wife and I put the trim on with the cleco's to hold them in place till the screws come in. I'm very happy with the way it turned out (so far).
