Looks really good. I can appreciate the work that goes into that. I just finished up some similar work on my project. Mine didn't turn out quite as nice as yours though. I really need more practice on my welds.

Nice work! If you ever see half marmon set ups, stay away. They leak and can be a pain. Your exhaust is looking great!Ryan

Once again thanks guys
Yeah I know. I believe it is because welding can warp the flange a bit on those. I think if you weld them like you do sheet metal and body repair (very slowly and jump around a lot) they will still be okay because it will be less heat going into the flange area thus less destortion. The ones I have you weld the tube and not the flange. So the HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) will be all on the tubing and not the flange. My Chevy Truck Project

Very nice work. I'm doing much the same thing on my '69 stepside this winter. I've been going back and forth between that same H pipe and an X pipe. My concern is that the X might take up too much room making it tight to get the mufflers in before it has to go up over the axle.

I done a lot of reading on the benefits of a X pipe vs. H-pipe and the H-pipe fit the needs of what I was trying to accomplish. You have to decide which setup fills your needs. You may or may not need a x pipe. Here is why I went with a H-pipe.
H-Pipe: An H-pipe is better at balancing sound and produces a more consistent, classic muscle car growl. It does less than an X-pipe in the way of balancing exhaust gasses but still flows quite well. H-pipes maintain the back-pressure necessary for torque gains earlier in the rpm band, as opposed to the top-end power seen from an X-pipe.
X-pipe: Mid-pipes built with a crossover, or "X" shaped design, purposely cross exhaust streams to even out flow and streamline exhaust gasses through the rest of the system. X-pipes are generally raspier and louder than H or Y-pipes and have been shown to provide slightly more power than their counterparts. You are likely to see most of the power gains higher in the rpm band with an X-pipe.Last edited by BAM55; 10-23-2017 at 03:54 PM.

Completed the rear section of the exhaust. The mufflers are Dynomax race bullets.

Nice work on the exhaust. I saw this a while back and it's worth a watch. I was going to try to do an x pipe on my 40 but I will probably just go H since space is an issue.

Well the guys I just can’t leave well enough alone. I had to go out and by the new fleetside bedsides.lol
First order of business was to smooth the seams and stake pockets.
Here is a pic of the fleetside bed mocked up.
I also installed the hidden tailgate latches I had from the step side.
This now how I’m raising the bed floor.

I recently saw those sides offered and since they were a favorite of mine I was hoping someone I know would pick up on them.
Will you leave the side bullet plain or search for the chrome trim for them. i like them best with contrasting paint inside the paint.
Just wondering where your imagination will take you.

Yeah I'm a Cameo fan but the Cameo bed is so expensive to piece together I had to jump on the next best thing in my opinion which is the 58-59 fleetside bed. I would love to have the chrome trim but they are not reproducing it that I know of and to buy some survivors is a nice penny. So most likely I will not have the trim. No I will not paint a contrasting color.Last edited by BAM55; 01-25-2018 at 10:08 AM.

We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
