I got the hump covered, but at 11F and falling it's just set in place, not fastened down. Same with the seats, just set in place to see how they look with the carpet.

Now you guys are reminding me why I moved to Florida 41 years ago. Never been sorry for that move. It's "only" 70 degrees today; guess I'll change my tank top for a T-shirt before I go outside...

    Sorry. I just couldn't resist.

I had people ask me the same question, why do I go to Florida in the winter. There’s only two reasons, number one it’s warm, number two that’s where my old lady lives.

I wasn't happy with the excessive gap I'd created on the panels back from the door, so I measured & marked, then used another pice of the thin ply as a mold. Added 1/4" to one, and nearly 3/8" to the other. Much happier now!

Today I started covering a kick panel, and decided to try rattle can contact cement, thinking that if I pulled it tight and stapled it would be OK. BIG mistake! The carpet piece was OK, but the vinyl wouldn't stick tight, defining the line of foam. I was able to peel it back, and came in to order a gallon of the right stuff! Wildwood Landau Top Contact Adhesive.

Looks good Roger, I have never had a good experience with the rattle can contact cement. Quick and easy doesn't always equate to quality!

My order of the good stuff was canceled and refunded without explanation, so I visited my local trimmer to see if I could buy a gallon from their bulk supply. The owner had retired 4 years ago and the gal said that the glue is hard to find - supply side issues. Her supplier got a pallet of 36 five gallon cans yesterday, but said she could only have one because he'd promised other shops too. I found a place in Mississippi, ordered including FedEx fee, but so far it's confirmed but no tracking data or shipping confirmation. Fingers crossed that they ship Monday!

Yeah, it doesn't pay to be in a hurry these days. Things arrive on their own schedule, with no tie to schedules.

I must be naive, but how has this come to pass?
The steel / timber / chemical / cloth et cetera manufacturers want to sell their products, the manufacturers of all sorts of knobby bits and pieces want to sell their products, the shopkeepers want to sell anyone's products, the transport people want to carry anyone's products to anywhere, and Joe Bloggs is desperate to buy the products he desires or needs.

    And it's not there.

Where has it all gone wrong?

jb, I'll email you a link or two about the shipping/supply side crisis that are interesting.

Getting back to the never ending build, I think I've come to a decision on the door panel layout, which is really the focal point of the interior.

If I can get the foam padding to work the top will get a 3" wide strip to raise the edge, then down a bit I'll cut an arc of black walnut as an accent, with a layer of thinner foam below. The pocket will be below and forward of the seat. I think I'm going to use this type of pocket, if I can make it work.

Thinking I may put another piece of walnut as an accent across the back behind the seats, but it won't be seen much. I guess I'm not in a big rush since it's not gonna be roadster weather for a good while yet....
