I had a brand new one fail on my corvette. It was no fun. When you energized it, it would stay locked even when switched off. You had to disconnect the wires to get it to release. I returned it and got a new one but only used it a few more times as it made me nervous.

I cant blow the model apart until I get a vw off the rack and back to the owner which might be a few weeks so until them I'm tinkering on little things that will eventually need to get done. I also re installed the rumble deck lid It was just sitting in the car and not adjusted up. Tonight I milled a key way into the steering shaft so the 39 ford steering wheel can actually be attached to a modern tilt Chevy column. I also turned a new steering wheel center tonight on the lathe out of a piece of plastic and it looks like it will work just fine as well. Kinda of looks old and era correct. Then I got to thinking about a paint scheme and was looking at where to separate the colors. Think I might do something different and do the top and fenders along with the splash aprons hot rod flats black with the center that is now rutty red primer in a super bright tangerine orange flake with pearl. Never seen t before so why not... Did some rattle can primer tonight to see if I think I will like the separation points.

Nice work. I think it'll look good how you're thinking. Will the fenders and running boards be orange or black?

The fenders are kind of rough so I'm thinking black until I get them all straightened out then maybe orange down the road. Im not really excited about any color actually so prime is going to be the answer for a while. I'm really going to concentrate on just getting it on the road and worry about a final paint and ginger bread for later. As long as it looks like I'm doing something to it I think it will be fine.

I don't blaim you one bit for just primering it and driving it. Work out the bugs, enjoy it, paint it later in the off season or what ever. At least it'll be together and usable. What's that like?
