That's a body plate. Model 392 = C39 =Chrysler New Yorker, Body 5 = Sedan, Paint - Newport Blue. Is Trim 19 or 9? Look for a VIN plate on front door hinge post. It should have a serial number, which will tell a lot. Serial numbers for that car should be from 7037249 to 7062597. Can you find an engine number?

The other two-letter indicators on the body tag are for options. They're listed below.
I have no idea what numbers would be used for options except for the two I found online.

RA - Philco 8 tube Model 802 radio
AN - Concealed cowl manual, left side

    RD - Refrigeration unit
KI - Kilometers (not miles) on the odometer
TR - Optional lighting (signals, e-brake, spotlight)
    RA - Radio type/manufacturer
    AN - Antenna type/location
    HR - Heater
    CL - Clock
    LU - Luggage rack
    TO - Convertible top

    I'm by no means a Chrysler expert - but I'm a fair-to-middling researcher.

Well I'm back after a little lay- off . Well Henry rifle I think you're a darn good researcher , as is everybody who has weighed in on my build. I just want to say thanks and I've done nothing but learn from you guys. I never knew there was so much about the radiator so thank you guys for all your input on that . Haven't done much on Chrissy the Chrysler, nothing major anyway everything is kind of waiting on the motor. I have got the front end cleaned up, the firewalls been sanded, primed and painted, going to try and get out there today and drop the gas tank and get that all cleaned out and ready to go. I do have a plan of attack for this car so I don't want to get too far ahead of myself as far as pulling things apart . By the way Henry rifle my dad used to use that same saying "Fair to Middling" all the time . It brought back a lot of memories. Thanks again, The BUCKSTER

Good morning gentlemen , it's been a while since I've posted anything but I really haven't had anything to post . I've been waiting for my mechanic to pull his motor out of his car but as busy as he is I'm not sure if it's ever going to happen . So I went down to the shop a couple weeks ago to talk to him and get his feel on the subject and he kind of agreed with me that it would be a while. So we both agreed to start looking for something else. I must have been in the right place at the right time because he was pulling a motor out of what looks like a beat up old farm truck and putting one of his LS motors in that . A lot of the guys around here like to build sleepers so I wasn't surprised he was getting an LS motor in it . The reason the guy was making the swap was because the transmission went bad so he figured he just go ahead and go all the way I guess, but the motor that they were pulling out was good. So if you're sitting down the motor they were pulling out was a 340 Mopar out of a 72 Dodge charger with one rebuild on it. Now how cool is that . As far as I knew 340s were pretty rare so I went ahead and made a deal and promptly paid the man and now it's mine. I paid my mechanic $750 plus my 350 turbo transmission which I doubled my money on in the sale. And as far as I can tell from checking the price of 340s online I got a steal. I feel really good about this and I'll be really proud to open my hood and have that 340 Mopar sitting there . I'm waiting till probably March or April to get it put in cause I don't want it sitting around outside in the wintertime. But I can't wait to get it in there I'm going to try to post a couple pictures with this so let me know what you guys think. But I think I lucked out. The BUCKSTER

Gotta love the Mopar in Mopar, and the 340 is a really nice little package. I'd say that you did great!

Cool, Mopar in a Mopar; should be a nice motor for it.

    Fellow New Yorker

    Hey BUCKSTER,

I'm new to the forum. My dad loved cars and he has a 47 Chrysler New Yorker in his collection. I was thinking of customizing some day. I think it is a great car to work with. I would like to follow your thread as you make your dream a reality.

    Good Luck!
