Just another build.
Well I have been doing this for over 50 years. I see a project and just have to do it. One time a grand kid asked me how many cars did I have? So with a lot of thought it turns out to be to many, some where near 30 . Anyway about a month ago I started driving my latest project and decided to keep this one as my 93 GMC is starting to get up there in years and miles( 260K). The wife mentioned she really would like an ElCamino some day. BOOM. The Friday after Thanksgiving we were on a road trip to West Virginia. We bought a project Cabellero. Hauled it home and it now resides in the shop. It came home on a trailer and in the back of our suburban. I didn't think we were going to get it all in one trip.(402 miles) I have started making repairs to the rear quarter as it had been hit there so a new panel will take care of that.I'll just post some pictures of it and my 72. As I progress I'll try post more pictures.Last edited by cffisher; 12-02-2016 at 11:00 AM.

Sorry I forgot I have to resize my pictures here is the new to me 1980 Cabellero project. This truck has little to no rust that I have found so far. The P/O took it apart and lost interest.Sure hope the wife likes it when its done.Last edited by cffisher; 12-02-2016 at 10:58 AM.

Did it come with a new fender Charlie or do you have to sauce one yourself. Now I will show my ignorance and ask whether it is a Ford or a Chev or even some other brand as I have never seen or heard of a Cabellero ?Last edited by Whiplash23T; 12-02-2016 at 02:39 PM.

Did the Cabellero ( which I had never heard or seen one of before today ) come with a new panel or do you have to sauce one yourself Charlie ? I did a Goggle search and find that they are the GMC version of the Chev El Camino so I have learnt something new today.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Yes the Caballero is the GM version of the Chevy El Camino. The P/O had the panel already so what I bought is a frame body and lots of parts to put back together.Charlie

I think those 72 style Chevys are one if not the best looking pickup ever made. Love the color also, is it called Crimson Red? I painted a 76 that color and loved it.

The 72 is looking very nice Charlie! The Caballero looks like a great start. I always liked that body style with the SS nice on them and the ground effects kit they came with. They just look cool IMO and you don't see many of them.Ryan

OK I have been working on the Caballero. Things are just slow. A good example is putting together a jigsaw puzzle with out the picture, and having extra piecses. The quarter is finished the dash is in and wired the engine and trans are in and I'm working on the exhaust manifolds.Charlie
