Well it lives (again )
I got the intake back on yesterday and the exhaust leak cured.
I did a short test drive with the 575 CFM Cadillac Carbs, they worked really well with the linkage set up synchronized but just kind of so so set up progressive.
I probably could have tuned some more power into it, but as the 625 CFM carbs were ready to go I figured I’d see how the car liked them. It seems to like them….A LOT both set up synchronized and progressive.
Still have to do some fine tuning on the jetting (it’s close, but can use just a bit of tweaking) and set the choke. I see a LOT of road testing in my immediate future ….. got to get it just right you know.
I did really like the Tri-Power, especially the 20 MPG part, but the dual quads really make a difference especially in mid range and top end.

Mike:
Love the look of the quads on your Hemi, I'm going for the same thing. I see you used
625's, were these stock size for the factory setup? Also did they use elec chokes on
both carbs, I've seen most setups with just one. It's nice for straight linkage though.
I plan on 500's on mine.

Beutiful. What a difference. Your motor is like art, and I have to make covers to to hide how ugly a 5.3 is. LOLSeth

Mike, are your aluminum valve covers any taller than a set of stock stamped sheet metal ones?
You could have spent some money and time and relocated the coils and gotten different valve covers. They even have very nice intakes for these. Since you're down on projects, I don't see the problem................

Rich as far as I know originally the 331, 354 and early 392s would have had WCFBs (don't know the CFM rating on those). The late 392s were supposed to get 575 CFM AFBs.
My understanding is the all the WCFB cars had synchronized linkage and I'm not sure how the 392s were set up.
Running the progressive linkage the 57 seems to like the bigger carbs better..... I think in part because I'm running a 4 speed and 4.10 gears.
Ryan did you get the PM I sent last night?
The stock valve covers are 3 inches at the tallest point and the aluminum covers are 4 inches. Of course the stockers kind of curve down on both sides where the aftermarket ones are 4" all the way across.

Would the moon valve covers that Hot Heads sell maybe work? they are more the profile of the originals than mine are, but I have no idea on what the height would be.
I have contemplated going to stock VCs on the Plymouth a couple of times.....including when I did the intake swap. It would make life easier if I ever have to pull them off again. The problem is those big old valve covers just look too good sitting between the Plymouth fenders.
