We got the John Deere to leave the shop finally so it was back on the Avenger. I showed Christian how to fix a few dents and he seems to be handling that pretty well too. Every time he sees that I'm going to take a picture he pulls his hood over his headSeth

It's getting close Seth! You have a camera shy son and I have two granddaughters that are the exact opposite! Whenever a camera appears, Lisha and Lexi are posed in front of it with great big smiles!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Christian did his first painting on the Avenger. He did real good getting everything jamed. It all masked off now ready for paint tomorrow, I just trying to decide whether to have him shoot it or if I should.Seth

I'd say let him decide.
He's done good work so far, from your reports.. Make the offer to him and let him fly! 8-)

Let him shoot it with a little guidance, best way to learn. Besides, white's forgiving...…….Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

I asked him when he got home and he'd rather watch. He said that about the jaming till I handed him the gun lol.Seth

If you can afford the expense of (potentially) re working it, then let him have at it!.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

I really kinda wanted him to do it but he was to scared so I shot it for him, I gotta say I'm kinda glad too. I was reminded of why I swore I'd never use Omni paint again, but I did this time cause Christian is paying the bill. Omni makes a two hour job turn into an all afternoon job by the time you put 4-5 coat of white on because it barley covers and then trying to get the clear to lay down decent. It turned out ok but it not in the same category as the straight PPG or Dupont, but it is 1/3 of the price. A couple hours later we were looking for parts for it and Christian found an unpainted door handle that I completely forgot about I got that painted now and hopefully do some scuff and buff tomorrow and get this thing put back together.Seth

So you did NOT have a "training" budget. Ah well, maybe next time!.

Well, here is the mostly finished product, and it turned out very nice. We finished it up Sat morning and Christian and I went to Sioux Falls with it. He hasn't driven in a big city yet so I broke him in good and proper with Sat afternoon traffic. He did pretty well, I went with him alone because my wife's nerves can't take it I'm a bit nervous about this car though, he had me drive it when we got close to home and convinced me to give it the berries because he wanted see how much power it had. The car lit em up pretty good and I think it got a bit of second gear rubber too, and it didn't take long to get to 70 . He didn't want to risk a ticket a few days before his birthday. He turns 16 on the 16th ( tomorrow ) and he is going to see if he can get a job after school at K&J Body Shop in Rock Valley. He really seemed to enjoy body work and he wants to get his foot in the door there.Seth

That turned out nice. Looks like it will make a good car for him and he'll have a greater appreciation for it, since he has sweat equity in it.Mike

It turned out really nice! I was waiting to read that the truck in the background is why you drove down there. I figured you were going green?Ryan
