Thanks oldf100fordman, He's pretty spunky and has a bit of an attitude on him as well. I already told my wife he will not be aloud to take the car out by himself till he's 18 and no parties or any dates in it since it is a fastback Charger... I think you know where I'm going with that

I can't wait till he's old enough to have fun with it. That is, to ride in ti (the engine scares him) and help with repairs and most importantly, to talk cars with and go to shows.

    Thumbs up Kids n Rods

Ya know guys I don't have to tell you this....hehe... but i'm going to anyway...lol...it's the mommy in me!

It is sooooo cool that you guys work with your kids on ANYTHING! There are so many uninvolved daddy's out there that leave the life training for their kids up to the momma's...I really think that you guys spending time with your kids (don't forget yer girls if ya got em!) no matter what your hobby/job/interests are is THE most important thing you will ever do. They look to you during those times to see how you handle yourself, how you deal with other people, how you respond when things go your way or especially when they don't go your way. They learn to think & problem solve, strategize, interact with adults when they spend that time with you. They also watch how you treat their momma...hehe and that's how they will treat important women in their life...hint hint... You guys are the greatest influence the next generation has. An that goes for you Geezer Rodders too...if there are young ones in your circle of influence that DON'T have that example at home...they depend on you to be that example.

My husband is into bicycling (my kids don't like it)...so that's what he and I do together. He doesn't know anything about cars so in order to spend time with our boys he took up golf and does that with them. I don't care what it is...if your out there spending time with those kids it will pay off bigtime! You guys ROCK!!!!!
You miss 100% of the shots you never take

Na, I think she got it right referring to racerxjj67, greaser and others on the forum spending time with their kids. Good point, she's right.

Yup. Whenever I put up a sign I always try to bring my son or daughter or both to help me. When they were very young it was more of a handicap than help job wise, but the time together MORE than made up for their lack of participation. As they got older they became purdy 'good helpers too. HE HE HE I still remember the day I asked Jeff to stand a 4'x8' sign up against the scaffolding and he hoisted it up to me. I thought wow, kids' getting big. My daughter is grown and only once in awhile comes with me. My son still helps on his days off, and it gives us time to just talk about stuff. They grow up way too fast.

thanks for the praise guys...but i jus thought it was something y'all would do naturally.... but in hindsight my Pa was hardly around, he was always busting his ass at work to look after the 6 of us...he spent ime with my brothers when they were all small, but they are close in age... i was a late comer, and they'd all grown up by the time i arrived... so i kinda grew up hangin with my bro's... my pa even now finds it hard to relate to me, but thats more of a generation thing... plus he aint a petrolhead.. likes fishing (bores the butt off me) so we ocassionally hook up for a beer, chew the fat and go back to our respective lives..... but its real weird how he idolises the grandkids...maybe like he's kinda makin up for lost time er something... which is kewl. they see their grandpa and he gets run ragged by a bunch of spunky lil tikes...

but anyhoo i agree with you guys 100%, its how kids learn the moral ethics of life, by watchin their adult peers.
i seriously dont think my son has ever forgotten his manners, cuz he knows if ya aint polite ya dont get...same goes he knows to not freak out if something doesnt go to plan, he gives it another shot and then hollers for help if it goes screwy..etc
teach em young before it gets too late... and give them some interests til they discover their own...

how many kids world over are bein babysat by tv and playstations??? too damn many..
i have friends who cant believe we go out to the woods and make mud pies and all that fun kid stuff..isnt that what parenting is all about???/ or how else are we to get those embarrassing stories to tell their girl/boyfriends... ha ha and ima have some real doozies...

take it easy..and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

My grandfather would take my aunt and uncle to be with him while he split wood, in the winter they would sit in the truck sometimes. One of those times he had finished cutting down a tree and went back to check on them, when he opened the door he heard a WHACK!! , they both had hammers and were beating the dash in! When he asked what they were doing they said they were filling orders for Big Bird

Haha, damn that big bird. Yeah I wish my dad would spend more time with me and help me out on my car and all. He is too busy doing whatever he want's... But yeah I don't really wanna get into it. My grandpa used to take me to places in california like air fields with old planes and all like what you see on that show Moto Art like march (I think that's how it's spelled and pronounced) airforce base and old bases, etc. I am surprised that I am not all into planes or wan't to be in the air force or something. I still remember all that and have CLEAR pictures in my head and know EXACTLY where I was and how it all looked. So yeah I guess it does help kids out. I can't say much since I am only still a teenager and all.

fmx jus because y'all er still in your teens doesnt mean you arent necessarily also wise...from alot of your posts on other topics ya can tell ya got a good set of smarts up there, and arent disrespectful etc like ya get the youngins on other boards... All that says to me is someone whether that be ya Pa / grandpa / Mom er who ever has taught you some of the fundamental skills of bein a good ,responsible, likeable person.... i mean hell i have met tons of ppl who are older, who are not half as wisened as some of the younger guys i kno...
i'm jus tryin to give my lil guy a head start in the wisdom stakes, and teach him the vital skills he'llneed to handle every type of daily situation whether that be good or bad...

ahhhh... i'm waffling now... knew i shouldnt come back into this place at stupid o'clock in the a.m... nite again all
