A most Excelent Tuesday Evening
Kate and I went up to "Downtown Roseville Tuesday nights" tonight. It's about a 35 mile drive. They have a street faire, farmers market and car show. Pretty low key, free entry, they had about 100 cars show up. I ended up parked with a home built 36 Plymouth 3 Window with a blown 354 hemi, a slightly rough 53 Stude pick up with a 500 inch Caddy and a complete Jaguar suspension and a 65 Olds Cutless all original with a 320 hp 330 Olds rocket. Dummie me did not bring a camera! I put $10 in the 50-50 and Kate and I settled back for some good conversation with the others there, walked around the market, and had an excellent tri-tip sandwich. Weather was perfect with a nice breeze and we had shade. Couldn't be better! Stu Cool is getting lots of attention and I get to talk with a lot of folks, then one of the merchants comes to me and says "I picked yours." He was one of three who got to pick an award recipient, so Kate and I got to go up and get a plaque at the awards presentation. Then 20 minutes later they draw the 50-50 and a little girl picks one of my tickets! So now we have a plaque and $40. Covers gas and dinner plus some left! Then on the way home I spot an Exxon station with premium for $3.22, so I had to stop and tank up, I have been paying $3.40 or more. So that caps off the evening, what a nice night!
PatOf course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

That's great !!! Can you loan me 40?
What really amazes me is all those nice cars you mentioned, and not one had a 350 Cheby in it. That should have given you a hint that this night was going to be special.

Not much chance that the first two would come my way (award and the money) but I'd be happy at getting premium for $3.22 /gal. That and good conversation with other rodders would certainly make for a good evening.
Pat, sounds like you had a most excellent adventure, hope you have many more.

Don't be so modest Mopar34, I bet you have won plenty of awards with that 34.
Just for information, 93 Octane is 2.929 here in Soutside Virginia.

Sounds like an enjoyable evening, congratulations Stu. You didn't say how hungry the mosquito's were so I'd have to guess that wasn't an issue. I know for a fact having lived for a while in the Sacramento Valley, they have some maneaters with voracious appetites.

Thats great pat, sounds like a good time, cant beat a nice show, plus prizes.
Hey hide, ill put a florida "skeeter" up against any one cali can offer anyday of the week, ive heard sayings around here that a florida "skeeter" is so big that it can stand flatfooted and b#^%&^ck a turkey.

Hotroddaddy - I don't particularly like skeeters regardless where they come from. I have seen the Florida variety and can tell you they are miniscule compared to the ones from the northern tier, like Maine. I have even seen some Maine (and especially Alaskan) skeeters that have been frequently mistaken for golden eagles.

Sorry Jack, no modesty here. Little avatar's don't tell the same story as big pictures. 34 has a lot of potential but not there yet. One of these days our paths are bound to cross and I will show you the many flaws that I have grown to ignore and love.
My 57 Olds has won three times the number of "nice" awards that the 34 has. Actually the last award that the 34 got was a second place trophy in a class wihich only had two entries.Last edited by mopar34; 06-20-2007 at 03:39 PM.

Skeeters
Thanks everyone for the comments. There was not a mosquito in sight at the show. Maybe the breeze helped with that. I did have to clean off some bugs after we drove home past some rice fields at dusk. But even that was not awful.
I was on the porch one time up in Minnesota and heard two mosquitos talking, one said "here's a couple, should we eat them here to carry them down by the lake?" The second one replied "Eat them here, if we take them down by the lake the big ones will take them away from us!"

P.S. Hank, no I have not made it over to one of the Vintage Ford cruises yet. One of these days....Last edited by Stu Cool; 06-20-2007 at 11:15 PM.

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
