Forty years
Today, here in Godzone Country (New Zealand) it's the 24th of June.
It was the 24th of June 1967 that Rosie Young said "I do", and thereby agreed to become my wife.
Over the years we've had our ups and downs, good times and bad, times of poverty and times of plenty.
And we're still together! And happy to be so.
I think She's a keeper!
johnboy and She Who Must Be Obeyed.
Ps She doesn't object to being called that, if we're out somewhere and I refer to her as She Who Must Be Obeyed, She gives me a 'look' and says:"Yes, without question and at all times".johnboy

Good on ya brother Norton, and give Miss Rosie a squeeze for me. Is it time to take a little lovers lap in the fat fender Ford now?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

My congrats. I see that as proof that you married the right girl.
I'll make 40 this time, but the first time I married, I did not know how to pick a wife. I sure learned my lesson with that one!!! :-)

I think you summed up why you lasted so long too. You had ups, downs, good times bad times, lean times, etc..........but you never threw in the towel. No one hangs in there anymore. The fact you did is a testimony to you and the Mrs.

Congratulations! You're a lucky man. My wife and I would have celebrated our 40th in April of this year if cancer hadn't taken her 3 years ago. She was also a keeper!!

Thank you everybody for the kind words.
Don (Itoldyouso), and Hotrodpaint, I think you're right on the button with your comments about good times/bad times.....we had to work together as a team to fulfil our dreams.
To use a cliche: calm seas don't make a skilful sailor.
Bob, we didn't take the fat fender Ford out for a lap......we took the little Morris Minor!
rc57, hang in there man, as you say you're half way there.
hotroddaddy, the prevailing attitude now seems to be "For richer for better, for poorer forget it!"
RestoRod, I feel for you man. It must be hard to lose someone you love.
Thanks to you one and all.

That's the one! Manfeild Race Track Easter 2003.
That's when Rikki Tikki Tavi still had the side-valve 918cc motor.
Nobody passed me......but when they waved the chequered flag there was quite a bunch coming up in my rear view mirror!
(Four years ago!!! Nah....surely it was yesterday!!)

Wow! I'm not too far behind in my reading on the board.
Congratulations to you both, Johnboy; may you have many happy returns. It is indeed a real milestone in todays world, although there are a lot more of us than we sometimes think. My Bride and I will hit 43 this year, and I tell folks: "she still tolerates me".
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
How did you get hooked on cars?
