RIP, Jerry....
Well, they pulled the plug on my pal Jerry yesterday, he died peacefully last night. Jerry and I were friends since about age 12. When he was 15 days home from Vietnam, proudly cruising the streets of Madison on his brand new XLCH Sporty he got ran over (literally) by a drunk in a pickup who ran a stop sign. Jerry has been in a coma ever since then and had begun to worsen and was visibly in a lot of pain the last few months.
After much agony and prayer, his family decided to shut everything off and let him go. Lots of us stopped to say goodbye yesterday. At 9PM he died with his Mom and all his brothers and sisters with him.
Don't be too sad for Jerry, he's doing a lot better where he is now. But next time you encounter a drunk on the street, or someone getting ready to drive drunk do us all a favor and either take his keys or call the cops so some other family doesn't have to go through what Jerry and his family have been through since 1972....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Your friend has a salute from one service member to another.
May he rest in piece.

I'm so sorry to hear that Dave. Had to be an extremely hard decision for all concerned to make.
May he finally rest in peace.

What a crappy hand to be dealt to someone who served his country in that awful war. Good on you, Dave, for being his friend all these years. May he find the rest that has escaped him for all these years.Jack

Thanks guys. Yes, it was a very long time. Jerry's mom has his power of attorney and had this hope that someday he'd wake up. Over the years he had at times shown some evidence of coming out of the coma...eye's open and eye movement sometimes, other little things. I guess we all say that we would have given up hope many years before.....But then, if it was my son.....
PS---The guy who hit him is (of course) still alive and well.... I did see him yesterday, well ok, I went out of my way to see him yesterday, and told him that his victim had finally died...Well, ok. I told him a few other things, too....I know it didn't do the situation any good, but it sure did make me feel better!!!! He was drunk as usual, after our "conversation" I also let the cops know he was driving drunk. Sure do hope he got busted!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Sorry Dave.
Prayers to his family and all his friends that stuck by him.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
