Well, I decided to take my '53 out for a cruise this morning. About 3 miles from home (on my way back), I got stung by a honey bee...right on the inner thigh. Another inch over and I would really be in pain I hate it when you can't see them fly in through the window. I should have stayed home and worked on the new tranny cooler mount instead.

I got the hood repainted and cleared on my pickup, decided I didn't like the stripes the way they were so I re-did the hood.... Clear is drying now, think I like it ok this time....
Helped bang out some dents from some idiot's fist in the deck lid of a '56 Dodge a friend of mine has.... He had it at a guys shop, told him he was too slow, so the fool pounded on the car and pushed it outside.... The clown has had the car for a year, IMO he's got about 40 hours of work done on it so far and has ripped the owner off for about 4 times that much labor, plus about $350.00 for materials... Did a little investigating on one patch he had put on the car..... The idiot didn't bother cutting out the rusted metal, just tacked a patch over it and spread some mud..... Looks like I have another one to finish, sure do hate re-doing some hack's work!!! Quite sure I'll find a lot of "surprises" when I get into it....
PS, have to post some pics of the car some day....and yeah, that thing's got a HEMI !!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Well Dave I did shut off the computer and went to work in the garage, removed all excess lumber from the build on the garage, swept the floor, power washed it, scrubbed it down with concrete etch, power washed again. Tomorrow night I will paint the floor with epoxy paint, going with red paint so the blood doesn't show when I bust a knuckle, after that dries I can put the lift in and mount it to the floor.

Sounds like a good day to me!!!! I've got to get a lot of work done in my garage before winter. I really need more room, but now when I make my house payment, most of my overhead is covered. I guess I don't miss the big payments, just the big shop!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Me too. Installed (make that re-installed for about the 15th time) the power windows. Installed the switches and wiring, and - amazingly, they go up when I push the "up" button and down when I push the "down" button.
Replaced all the bolts holding the master cyinder, accelerator pedal, and anything else visible with button-head stainless machine screws. I polished all the heads first.
I also installed the weather stripping. (Warning - another Gibbon story follows) The doors were so poorly formed that about half of the stripping on the back of the doors doesn't touch the body. Same with the trunk. I knew this would happen, but I'm dam**d if I was ever going to build up the door frame and/or the doors. I'll make it work with some different weatherstrip. I also installed a couple of drains in the bottom of the trunk opening. There is no way any weatherstripping would keep water out. I inset a couple of flared copper tubes in the bottom of the channel, then ran a vinyl hose down through the floor.
Found out that Kyle sold me a touched-up but worn-out Vega steering box. Another one's on the way from eBay.
Made a list of stuff that Kyle sent with the '34 that I have now thrown away - or sold:
- Front windshield (junked)
- Windshield mounting kit (junked)
- Steering column drop (sold for about half price)
- Front coil-overs (sold for about 30% of new cost)
- Vega box (to be junked)
Shut down in the evening, and took she who must be obeyed for a wedding anniversary dinner at Ruth's Chris.
Not a bad day, that.Jack

Never been to South Dakota! Nor North Dakota, for that fact either. If you can provide three hots and a cot, I might just be interested in making the trip. Besides it would get me out of having to clean and organize my garage for a while.Bob

Hey Hey---Just got home from holidays. Wife and I went down to the Gaspe peninsula and toured that part of Quebec in the wifes new Toyota Matrix. Had a great time---the anti english sentiment of a few years back seems to have died down considerably, in view of the fact that they need English speaking tourist dollars to survive!!! I was supposed to have a design contract lined up with a supplier to GM to start on this morning, but they haven't got the approvals back yet on the proposals I did before holidays, so nothing is happening----.I have been out touring in the roadster pickup, and as far as working on it is concerned, I firmly subscribe to the school of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". The RPU is working fine, and the weather is gorgeous for cruising.---BrianOld guy hot rodder

It was blistering hot and I was looking for something to do. I rolled around under and over the car and made a list of all the bolts and nuts sizes. Went over to nut and bolt store and got all grade 8 hardware, nuts bolts and washers.
Went to the garage and set up the A/C and installed all grade 8 hardware everywhere. My hands and fingers are worn out. I didn't know there were that many fasteners on a car. I also now have a nice plastic box full of left over GR 8 fasteners.41 Willys 350 sbc 6-71 blower t350, 9in, 4 link
