    Just take it to Bonneville this year!! (yep, that's what it's looked like lately, but they think they can get three courses set up on higher ground than usual)

    Yep.........that's how REAL hot rods did it in the day!!

    Does this happen very often, that they get bad salt conditions, or is this a rarity?

    That has got to be hell on that car, not to mention the truck. i wouldnt drive my truck/car through that.

    It seems to happen about once or twice a decade. The sad thing is they had the courses already set up, graded/prepped, and then the big wet hit. Fortunately the weather warmed up nicely last week, they got two courses open and by last Friday things had dried up well. The runs started Saturday and continue through this week.

    I remember when I was little in California we used to drive by salt flat's. Always people out there in their bikes, cars, trucks, hot rods, whatever. I miss the desert.

    Ow!! That'll give some "patina" - for sure and certain. I'd hate to have to clean that up afterwards.

    I'm always sort of amused - or perhaps bemused by those commercials showing a fancy car or truck flying along a beach through the surf; how to ruin a good car in one easy lesson.
