Cali's a beauty of a place its just too crowded.
A big fence and a strong dose of conservatism would help but even thats probably too little too late.
Tell you what though, I take a flat in Watts or Compton before Id shovel snow in a palace back east.

In the not so distant future will we hear? "Sure is a nice day for a drive, wish the state would let me have a hot rod!!!!!!
Ever raced snowmobiles, quads, cars, or motorcycles on a frozen lake in the winter???
English is still the prime language taught in our schools, oh yeah, it's not taught as a second language!!!!
I would imagine all the stories about wildfires, mudslides, and earthquakes are just stories????
We don't even have security guards or metal detectors in our schools!!!!
No state inspections or smog inspections on our cars.... When I need license plates, all I have to show is my current registration and plunk down a few bucks annually....Unless I have "antique" tags, then I only have to renew them every 5 years....
A nice house in a decent neighborhood is still under $100k.
Traffic doesn't operate at gridlock speed all day long!!!
We have race tracks and dragstrips, and new ones opening not old one's being closed down!!!!
Sorry, the "perfect weather" just would never be enough of an attraction for a lot of us.....Last edited by Dave Severson; 08-19-2007 at 08:57 AM.

I suppose HRP will come on next with the usual Arizona thing, Yes, but it's a dry heat!!!!!
I'm not saying life in the midwest is perfect, but IMO it beats the heck out of either coast!!!! When it gets really cold, I can always head South for the winter....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I would say 50 percent of all hotrod parts are made here local in cali, hotrods are not going anywhere .
Cali has some of the best frozen lakes and ski resorts in america.
C-mon dave exspand yer horizons ,I would like to be able to speak a couple of languages, heck 5 or 6 would work.
Anytime you have a hill and it rains ,it slides ........dont live under the mudslide hill. It has caught on fire here since here was here .......
As far as the earth quakes, they just happen and by the time you can freak out ,there over, much better than a tornado.
All major cities have the metal detectors and security on the schools,St.Louis had them.
I have a 1966 truck ,plates are 50 bucks a year ,no inspections or emissions.
I live right outside the Los Pardres national forest ,which is the size of small state ,that is uninhabited,I have very little traffic at all.
As far as housing.....my income doubled moving from the midwest to here.
As far as race tracks ,we have more than any state and also have one of the biggest gatherings, last race I went to there 133,000 thousand people in attendance, then theres all the road courses ,long beach,Pamona, infineon, windy hill, plus countless others.
Can I ask you this.......can you deep sea fish in the mourning ,ride bikes in the desert in the afternoon and then go snowmobile riding or ski in the afternoon ,..........I can
You guys cant fool me ,I see all the threads on its sooo hot here ,or its soo cold here,or its been raining for days..........
Its just like iceland /greenland mislabeling........Milk costs 10 dollars a gallon, its overcrowded, everyones a idiot ,.welcome to cali now go home
Honestly it is crowded and exspensive and loaded with idiots,..................but there are some very unique events and geography and weather happening here,I am glad I am here,Hey I can always move and when I do,I can buy 5 houses in another state and retire comfortably with the sale of just one house.
Ohh I almost forgot,I sat outside last night and I think I saw one moth around the light, someone said they saw a mosquito last year ...somewhere.
Somebody also said they sell deep woods off somewhere up north ,I am not sure where though.Heck, most houses around here never had A/C untill the 1990s,we still do not have or need it,we do have a heater though, those 60 degree winters shure do get cold.
20 miles to the north we are on fire ,literally and heat wise.
Like I said ,I live in a very special area ,theres only a few places in the world this stable and most of cali is nowhere close to the beatiful weather in this very little secluded area I live.
However ,I agree with you on cali being just like you said I just happen to be in a very good part. For the most part its just like you stated.
I just gatta give you a hard timeIts gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Like I said, enjoy the weather and the politicians and ridiculous laws I don't fish, or I'd live by a lake I suppose. Might want to show some reference on your statistic of 50% of the hot rod parts being made in So Cal..... I would imagine that's a bit high.
But anyway, you guys were the one's complaining about all the legal infringement and the "libbies" (that one still is funny to me)running the place.... If I wanted to put up with all that crap, would have continued dodging the draft and stayed there in '68!!!!! Been back many, many times since, so don't bother with the travel brochure stuff!!!! On Monday morning at 8AM I can travel further on Interstate 29 in an hour then you can on I-10 in 3!!!!! If you like events with 133,000 in attendance, have a ball. I much prefer where we sometimes have to look around to come up with enough cars to make a quick 8 field on Friday night!!!!! Don't bother trying to convince me how great Caliphony is, but it sounds like you almost have yourself convinced. When I leave here, it'll be Texas....and not one of the big cities, either.... I hate crowds, hate traffic, and generally prefer living in an area where I don't have to see other people unless I want to cuz I don't like very many of them, either!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Dave you remind me of my father. You could bend a bar over his hard headedness when he was set on something.
You had better watch out Dave, WERE COMING FOR YOU!!!
15 Years or so im gonna retire and sell my house which should let me buy your house and five more like it. I'll let some entitlement program types tag along and I'll rent to them for that gubmint sec 8 monies. Dave, I wail allow you to stay. But if the gubmint cant gaurantee your payment I'll have to raise the rent considerably.
