    help ford/merc guys

     



    a friend has an 84 cougar with a 302, he wants to run low 13's high 12's i told him to put a 390 or bigger in it. does anybody know if it'll even fit???. i aint no ford guy help dave !

    It can but he will have to buy a rear sump oil pan. Something like from these people: http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/...rear_sump.html You will have to scroll down to the FE Oil Pan.

    He could run those times with a 302 and save a lot of weight in the process,I suggest he visit:www.network.54.com/forum/119417/ ,the FE motors are very heavy and parts are pricey.

    i agree, he can run those numbers fairly easy with the 302. he will have to throw a few mods in there but that is a very realistic number with the 302. a friend of mine has a 87 hatchback mustang, bone stock 302, only mod is a set of mac headers, runs 13.480's all day, and on a 90 shot of NOS wet kit, he runs 13.020. and that is through a manual tranny, with an automatic he would be a bit quicker.

    Another way to go would be just a well built and balanced 302 with a Procharger on top of it, C-4 trans, some frame ties, and a gear change...Easily into the 13's

    budget is 1500, i told him to put a 5 speed in it, since it is on the fox body platform shouldnt be to hard should it?????
