First, they want instant gratification and not to have to wait for 6 months to a year for an all new car. And second many know that their investment will not only get them nearly instant wheels but very comfortable and very fast wheels. Many of those those hyper ricers (NOS) can blow the doors off most street rods, even rods with big, big blocks, especially from stop light to stop light. The money is not the problem for most of this age group (non-married, no dependents, no mortgage), the direction in which they intend to spend it is.

Who knows, one day when they are 50 years old or more, they may decide that street rods and customs really are pretty kool.
Yeah, my experience has also led me to believe that the younger generation could be named the "I want it all right now" generation. Most I've dealt with are waaaaaaay to impatient to build a rod, or if they do it's just drop in a cam and go!!!! As for having disposable income, again most I have met are buried in car payments and credit card debt because of their impatience!!! Again, probably just generalizations, but it cover the majority of the younguns that I deal with!!!!!!

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

The hobby will be alive, but it won't look the way it was in the '50s, '70s, '90s, or even now. Watch import drag racing, or some of the new TV shows, and you might get a hint of where it's going. It might be a slammed Hummer on "22s", with a "hairdryer" and nitrous, and a killer sound system, but they will love it just as much as we have.

I tell you what, ive watched some of those tuner event shows on tv, and they look like they know how to have a good time. Im not at all into ricers, but it looks like a good combo, fast cars and even faster girls, and barely dressed i might add, alot more exiting than a goodguys show.

Now as far as all the old guys go, i guess in a few years it will be good for guys in my age range that are really into older cars, cause there will be plenty to have, cause the younger guys will not want them.

That is not unknown to have happened!

The last couple decades the value of a totally restored and original car from the '20s or '30s has gone down in value, and the value of street rods went up. The reason is because the guys who wanted an original, driveable, piece of their childhood, were now in nursing homes, but the guys who remembered old cars only as street rods has gone up!

    So, yes...It will happen.
