Some Home Track Vids
If some of you dont know i am the far northern guy that is involved in a grass roots air stip drag race club, we shut down the local municipal airport for a day, 3 time a year and run what you brung.
the stip is 4500 ft long flat and smooth as any racetrack out there.
the words getting out cause last week we had our fall race and 121 cars showed up.
tractions getting better every time especialy when we blast a 40 gallon barrel of vht on the entire lenghh of the track
i am going to try to attatch some vid that has made it to u tube.
remember when we start at 6.00 am that morning its just a bare airstrip on the high prairie and it has to be all gone and clean by dark that night
Oh yeah and if you think about cool air for power it was just above 32 f that morning when we started setup.

Neat. But at what point do you go when using a person/flag starter? When his arms first move or when they touch his legs?"On a r-e-e-e-e-al,,,,qu-i-i-i-i-i-et night,,,,,,,,(whisper),,,,,,,, you can hear a Ford rust!!!"

That looks just like we did up in northern Minn back about 57-58 except for the cars of course
Flag racing you go at the first twitch of the flag. Used to be an art reading the flag guys. They kept changing moves all the time. Very advanced was the button that the flag rested on and the red light observers. More than one altercation broke out haha.41 Willys 350 sbc 6-71 blower t350, 9in, 4 link

The locale and scenery reminds me of 1956-57 at Charleston, RI. The strip was a USN auxilary (sp?) base. Same deal - set up Sunday morning, everything had to be taken down by nightfall so they could land planes on Monday. The race track was about a mile long landing strip.. No trees anywhere around the landing strip, just like the scenery in your video. Hay bales for spectator protection. Had a great time back then. Had the flag starters too, lights were not yet available. Very crude clocks.

we charge 25.00 for racer and car for the day, 5.00 admission and 2.00 for a pit pass
Guys from other tracks come to race and cant believe what were charging.
We have the prices witten in our clubs constitution and will not be increasing them.

Man, Al, you had some serious machinery there. Loved the yellow Dart and the white Chevy II. Thanks for sharing.Duane S
