Back from Wyoming
Well my wife and I took a two week vacation to Wyoming, S.Dakota, Idaho and Minnesota. Had a great time, went white water rafting on a class 4 river, Ballon riding over the teton mountains. The only bad part was coming back. We left Cody, Wyoming on a prop plane to Salt Lake city, Utah and the pilot informed us that theres a real bad head wind and a plane ride that usually takes 55 minutes turned into a 2 hr. nightmare. The ride was so rough that sometimes the plane was on it's side, sometimes it droped 500 ft. in seconds then come right back up again. Baggage was flying around and people were crying. My wife grabbed my hand in a death grip and all I could say to here was"Honey, just keep your eyes close and if the worst happens, it happens". Must admitt I was sure that we were going to crash. The pilot came on and sAID HE WAS TRYING TO GET ABOVE 15,000', BUT THE WIND SHEARS WERE TO STRONG. iT LASTED FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND THEM BEGAN TO CALM DOWN. I thing I've taken my last plane ride!Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Ouch. Glad you made it back ok. Funny part is, you did all the dangerous stuff like WW rafting and balloon riding............who would have thought a normal plane ride would be the worst thing of the trip????
So, where you gonna go next year?

Ah Bart, you brought back some good memories!
Your story reminds me of monsoon season 1968. Every flight was an adventure!
If you're going to do a trip to that area again next year try a flight into Haley, Id..........................might be a little deja'vu all over again!
BTW, did you buy the land this year?Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon
It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.

Bob Put an offer down on 300 acres. Don't think I'll get it because in just two years, the price almost doubled.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Glad to hear you got back in one piece. Sounds like you had a great trip other than the plane ride. My wife and I are considering traveling to those areas next year if we decide to drive to Seattle for a business conference. I know it's a 2750 mile ride (one way) and an air plane would be quicker, but after hearing your story, I like my chances driving better.
BTW, many years ago, before I was married, I flew from Baltimore to Burlington NC in a Cessna 182. Both the pilot and co-pilot were friends, I learned afterwards that neither had a pilots license (both had taken the courses) and the pilot only had one eye (the other one was glass). It struck me funny when we arrived by way of a rather rough landing, the pilot said "any landing you can walk away from is a good landing!"
I had no choice but to fly home with them, but I was a bit more concerned on the return trip.Bob
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

If I was ever on a plane with my wife and she found out something like that, be sure that she would fly the damn thing herself.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
