I asked this question before.Is my fiero a custom,street rod,sports cae,compact or abastard?THE REASON I ASK IS,CAN i GO togood guy events,hot rod shows or what? The is converted to aconvertable,changing from 2.8 v6 60 degree to a262 chevy v6 90 degree engine all new leather interior with upgraded brake.I do not want togo somewhere that I get shunned.That happens enough. phil the geez.by the dave, there was a seivison family in baltimore who were my gest frtends and mentors wher I was a late teen into my 20s.

It's what ever you want to call it, but in my book it's a custom car or a modern day hot rod at this point in time.

I say, go where you want to. If they shun you, it's their loss. A small car, whacked, and with a bigger engine, any car guy worth his salt will drool all over it.

Really it's all of the above, a custom street rod compact sports car. I could see a V8 Fiero fitting in pretty much anywhere. If somebody shuns a tiny little car with a big V8 transplant they're idiots. That's what hotrodding is all about. I seen a guy years ago that had one. He had a fiberglass pro-stock dragster scoop on the back with the scoop coming up over the roof. It really looked mean.

I may never finish the car ,I at leasy feel my ebdever is headed in the right direction.I never played with afront wheel drive trans. car so everything is new and confusing because I have not been able to drive for the last 9 yrs.You guys will be hearing from me often since I do nt leave the house much. phil the geez

Well, I would classify it as a street machine or modern hotrod depending on how you build it. Being a 1985 model, you won't get into Goodguys events cause their cut off is 1972. Likewise, several of the NSRA events have cut offs at 1977 (Tampa, Richmond, Milwaukee, Burlington and a few others). NSRA nationals have a cut off of 1948.

Many local shows are "open" meaning any year is okay. At these shows you see a lot of Mustangs, PT Cruisers, Vipers, 'Vettes, and others regardless of vintage. You could easily go to any of the open shows. Most shows/events will tell you the cut off date for car entries if there is one.

Most states recognize classics, collector and antiques as being at least 25 years old. Those who have special licensing for streetrods/hotrods, the car has to have been built or built to resemble a vehicle made prior to 1949. Street Machines and customs can be any year, although usually 1950's thru current.

In your case, build it the way you want and drive it! Look for open shows and events and go have fun.

There are a lot of weekend shows in your area where you go, and most have no restrictions. Just about every Saturday there is a show at the Bennigans at Center of Glen Burnie Mall hosted by the "Lost in the Fifties" car club. If you need more info on other events, PM me and I will send you a list. There are also a number of car clubs in your area, many of which even accept membership from people who don't own cars.
