Joe should be coming home from Iraq soon
Time is ticking fast now, in less then 30 days I'll be at Camp Leguene, NC to welcome not only my son home but the rest of his group of Marines that he was over there with. Words can not express how I felt when he & his fellow Marines left last April & I know the feelings I will have when I first see him as he gets off t hat bus will be indescribable. That kid of mine has basicly been on my mind 24/7 since he has left.
Everyday when I look above my computor & see the Marine flag that was given to us by a friend & then look to the right & see not only a picture of my dad(God Bless his soul) but a picture of Joe when he was about 10yrs old & one of him in his uniform I sit here & cry wishing that he was home for good.
What makes things better is being told that Denise & I raised not only a good man but also someone who truly cares about what people think about him. Even his Commanding Officers have had nothing but good words about him This is what his Captain over in Iraq told me in an email "For the record I want to tell you how well your son has performed over here in combat. He is a joy to be around and consistently has a positive attitude and a smile on his face."
How could a parent not be proud of that. So hopefully there will be lots of pictures to share when I get back & I'll have some stories that I can share that Joe has told me.
I would like to thank EVERYONE from the bottom of my heart for anything that you may have done for my son or anyone else in the military &&& if you're near Camp Leguene & would like to be there when the get off the bus just let me know & I'll see about getting you on the base w/me....thanks again, joe
ALSO.........................................
I got the ok from Bill to post this so here's a request for help of a different kind.
I thought I would pass this message along to you & see if anyone would like to help.
This home coming is for Joe's group of 190 Marines & Melissa Sparks (Gunnery Sgt Sparks is her husband & my son's boss & that unit would be the ones recieving anything that was given.) is in charge of putting things together. I told her I would ask if anyone would like to help out w/gift cards or cash so these guys cannot only have a great home coming but also have food to eat on the crazy day/nite. If any of you can help in anyway PLEASE do so. Plus if you feel like passing this message on to others Please do also...THANKS, Joe

Hi Joe,
Sorry it has taken me awhile to get this email to you. Here is a list that me and some of the wives have put together. Its really nice of you to pass this on.
List of things we could use.
Lots Red, white & blue balloons and string (About 600 total)
We would like to have food in the company office for the guys to eat, because they will be so busy.
If you happen to live in the Jacksonville, NC area gift cards to any grocery stores in the area or any gift card from Subway - KFC -Walmart for things like chips dip, cookies, drinks, donuts, brownies, decorations.
Anything in that nature would be great.
These Marines really need a hero's homecoming.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Take Care
