Pedal to the metal, Cross Country
In the early eighties I got involved in an east coast version of the Gumball Rally. I was driving a 77 Corvette from New York City to Miami and back, thought I can do this. My best friend was my co-pilot and we made it from the harbor in New York down to the Orange Bowl Stadium in Miami. On the way back we had gone about half way through Georgia, almost to Savannah, and the motor let loose. I blew a piston straight down into the asphalt. Now I find it hard to even consider hitting triple digits on a public road.
