jeep to trailer wiring
have a 96 cherokee with a uhaul hitch and light plug.
It has a female uhaul plug with two rows of 4pins over 4 pins. With 4 wires leading in.
Labled Tail,Tail,Right,Left.
On the bottom row, The 1st. tail is the ground
the other 3 are 12v all the time!
This can't be right?
The trailer plug has only 4 pins and fits the bottom row on the car plug.
Why would there be 12v on the other pins all the time?
I Don't know if this was ever used before?
Thanx for any help.

Bob i know this isn,t going to answer your question. I rented a u-haul trailer a couple years ago to pull my sons car home from Florida and had to buy a special adapter from u-haul just to hook up the lights. They have some of the craziest wiring i have ever saw. Might check with u-haul maybe they can answer your question.I just wonder what happened to GOVERNMENT of the people by the people for the people?

1 of Uhauls downfalls is that connector... you can get cheater bulbs from uhaul too, if you want.. the pigtail comes out the bulb housing.. I'v ran the Uhaul trailers b4, and I just looked for the uhaul connector we have.. it's not where I thought it was... we'v always told them to come out and hook up the mess for us... they know how they goYou don't know what you've got til it's gone

If your Jeep has seperate turn signal lights from the brake lights you can either plug in an interface into the jeep harness, or run an extra set of lights on the trailer. If you have trailer brakes, theres another circuit, plus 1 12v hot to charge the battery for the break away brake system, add a ground and the lowest no of circuits you need is six.
