    Try and find a 80s /90s 454 to build . When I do see them for sale they are a lot less then the older ones are !

    Yes,they are cheaper to buy as a core but to build the Gen. VI engines is a little more money plus they are not as many after-market parts available yet.

    i have built some the old mark cam will work the chain set if you trim the front cover and other stuff fits like the old mark two piece rear seal crank with a adaper . i have built some .i did build one and used all mark 4 tin on it oilpan and timming cover used a mark cam and chain set went to steel caps and used mark 4 caps and used a two piece rear main seal crank with just the upper adapter for the block the mark 4 caps had the bottom there for the seal .i know my way around a big block i have used the mark 6 cam in many mark 4 blocks with the mark 6 chain set with the GM hold down plat the two holes are there on the mark4 less it is a 396/402 them you just drill and tap the front for the hold down for the roller cam

    Pat,like I said it will cost more money.

    well they may or may not i have used the mark 6 block and it is cheaper to do a hyd roller cam in .it is all there from gm if you stay under 600 lift the stock lifters work fine oil pans are a bit more but there is alot of take off new gm pans that may fit in has car

    Hmmmm. Does this mean I have to go find a '64 Comet or Fairlane to put my 514 in?????

    Sure hope you aren't gonna run one of them shiftless automatic things!!!! Got to run a 4 or 5 speed to really enjoy all the fun in driving a straight axle car with a big block, ya know!!!!!!!!
