Very disappointed in Rally America.
We ordered 4 artilliary wheels from Rally America on Dec 9th. They promised to have them out the door in 3 weeks. They needed one week to build them and the powder coater needed 2 weeks. By January we hadn't gotten them so Dan called and Gary told him they had moved and got backed up, said he was using a new powdercoater who only needed 1 week to do them and that he would ship by last Friday. Called today to see if they went, and they haven't even started on them yet! After prodding his Son Jimmy a little come to find out they aren't sure they can make them at all. They were going to "try" us to see if they could do it.
I've dealt with a lot of the other wheel companies and they all seem to have this problem of not telling you the truth, but every report we saw on Rally America was that they were different. When I told Jimmy that we were disappointed and surprised that we were being lied to for so long he had very little to say.
Now it's back to square one and the last 6 weeks are lost waiting for something that wasn't even being made. Why can't people just tell you the truth?

I have had the same problem with a certain cam company.
They tell me it will be two and a half weeks to custom grind a cam and you call them at two weeks to check the progress and they act like they never have even talked to you.
So you give them the info. again and they say it will be another two weeks in the mean time you look like a dumb-a$$ to your customer.
I am getting to the point I don't like to even order custom parts anymore.

Pops, try The Wheel Smith, he's probably got them in stock unless you're doing something weird. Don't know about his powder coat time though, I've only bought bare from him. http://www.thewheelsmith.net/artillery_wheels.html
He even had some on display at the LA Roadster gig last summer.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 01-21-2008 at 07:21 PM.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.

If you or anyone needs ralley or smooth wheels, or any trim or caps, let me know. I am a dealer for Early Wheel, its a simple company that takes car of its dealers and customers.
I have tried to contact a few wheel companys about being a dealer and got absolutly poor communication from them....that was enough for me to turn away and not carry their product.

Bob, we discussed Wheel Smith tonight on the way to dinner. I told Dan about me calling them and basically blowing me off, so he called them. He got the same unconcerned attitude that I got. We aren't talking a small order either, the set was over $ 1200. Dan had given them his bank card info but has never been charged, which is good.
Surprising thing to me is that every report I had seen on any forum was that they rocked. Glowing reports and no negative feedback. I feel these forums are important because we are all able to tell others of our buying experiences, good or bad. If we can prevent someone else from making a mistake we have made that is a good thing.
Now we wouldn't buy from them if they cut the price in half and shipped tomorrow.

Wheel Vintiques has an artillery wheel in billet. Haven't seen the prices yet but $1200 will probably only get you two (2).
Also found them at Pete Paulsen.com in steel for $125 to $300 each depending on size and coatings.
Not good that Rally doesn't have a product for which they advance advertise. Certain to hurt their reputation, as they will learn. Plymouth's had them as standard issue back in the early 30's, don't know why it would difficult for Rally to have them now.Last edited by mopar34; 01-22-2008 at 08:34 PM.
