Bushmaster .308 or the AK with 2 mags and 80 rounds. That will usually get the job done.Last edited by BigTruckDriver; 01-26-2008 at 10:14 AM.

Mine is a Winchester Mod. 94 30/30 that I shoot 180 grain bullets with. Killed many deers with it. My varmit favorite rifle is old remington .22 that I've had for 50 yearsKeep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

I always liked my SKS in 762/39 . But the AR-15 M4 with the 16-1/2 barrel is also real COOL

I have a Savage tactical rifle in .308 that works very well with a Simmons scope on it.
I also have an HK semi-auto in .308.
Also with a scope and the peep sites.
I can't remember the model number.??

I use to shoot in a club much like a bowling league but I have not had time in more than 10 years.
I hear ammo price's have doubled because of the war.Last edited by erik erikson; 01-26-2008 at 10:53 AM.

I'm not much into guns but my grandad gave me his sigle action 22 mag revolver. I shot about 18 rounds since I got it. A friend had an M16 and an MP5 (smaller version?). what a hoot

Target shooting can best be done with a semi-auto .22. It's cheap to shoot and that equals fun. Most indoor pistol ranges allow .22 rifles.
As for hunting it depends on the game. No caliber has taken more game than the ancient 30-30 round in old fashioned lever action rifles. Wooded terrain and brush are great for the slow 30-30 round and other big slow bullets to stay on track after encountering small branches and twigs. Hyper fast rounds in the below 30 caliber group often disintegrate or change course as they brush vegitation making you miss.
.30-06 or similar ballistics will take down anything in North America at medium and long range.
Stay away from mid range cartridges like the 5.56 and 7.62 unless you're just playing around with prairie dogs or similar small game.
I trained on the M-14 and M-16 but used the 16 in the field. I wouldn't want to be limited to just 5 rounds for the safe bringing down of any big game. Remember most locales limit you to 5 round mags so you have to have a wooden block in the magazine. You can't just load 5 rounds or Fish and Game will get you. Also get a license and hunt for the prescribed game only in season. You can't drop a black bear with deer tags just cause he wandered in front of you.

This is my favorite .............. Colt AR-15A1 (SP 1) ............ have always loved the feel of this gun (and its military brother, the M-16)
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
