i have`nt worked on anything newer than my 1978 truck in the last 20 years .. my 2009 toyota has the same coolant it came with .. i figured it was time to change it .. it checked to be good at 10 above .. it wont get much colder than that in bama but one needs to be safe .. so i drain out and capture one gallon of coolant so as to know for sure my mixture ratio and get a zero or below freeze protection .. i get the gallon out and proceed to fill it back up and only about a Quart and a half goes in ..i`m waiting for the system to burp or open or whatever it needs to do to get the rest of the coolant in .. i notice my heater is blowing cold air and my temp gauge is bouncing off the hot side .. it took me a half hour of pouring in about 3 ounces at a time to finally get the system full .. am i missing something ? is one supposed to fill newer cars with pressurized coolant ?iv`e used up all my sick days at work .. can i call in dead ?

Have you checked any of the coolant tubes, thermostat housing, or water pump area for a bleeding valve?Ryan
