Wwchrd?
Awhile back, I guess around September '07 I posted some pics of 2 41 Fords I bought on Ebay. Well I sold the coupe on ebay within 2 weeks of bringing it home! (still gotta go get that 2dr sedan!!). The guy who bought it from me was from Austrailia, and paid me right away thru paypal. He never contacted me, and I finally got a hold of him after a few weeks. He said he wasnt sure when he could pick it up, but would be sending someone to get it and was shipping it to Austrailia! I told him I could stick it out in the back 40 and there was no hurry to remove it from the premises. I have never heard from him again, and ebay has deleted his info from my "myebay" site. (I had stored his number and such there not thinking it would months later that I would need it!)
My question is, how long am I supposed to hold this thing for him??? Everytime I look at it I think....Hmmmm Gasser!!!???..... I wont be finished with my T coupe for at least another 2-3 months, but after that Im gonna need another project!!???
What Would Club Hot Rod do???......
PS....oh yeah, I know I said I STILL havnt picked up my other 41, but I have been in constant contact with the person I purchased it from and he knows Im just waiting for the area to dry up a little so I dont get stuck like last time!!
Here's a shot of the coupe on the trailer and the sedan (parts car) still in the swamps!!

If you've been paid, I would contact PayPal and explain what has transpire between you and your customer. There must be a certain time to pick up his property.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Been there, done that. The only problem is you said "I told him I could stick it out in the back 40 and there was no hurry to remove it from the premises."
I learned not to say that!
I sold my El Camino last August, I got a parking meter ticket in LA., in November It was shipped by truck! I got his info from PayPal, from the deposit, and gave it to the Ca DMV

Can't you just go to your Paypal history and pull up his address he gave you?

Irregardless of the "legal options"....you gave the man your word and thats the bottom line.......He paid for it and specifically asked you if he had to remove it right away and you commited to no.........
Would you want to be on the other side of this........He may have had a accident /health problems etc. or be in jail....
I think after soo long as in a year or so of no contact........it would be time to start the lien process.........also,he does have a bill of sale .....pay pal transaction records and ebay.......Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

BTW, if it comes to it, there will be no "lien process".....Ill just build it or resell it....then if I ever hear from him, I'll just refund his money...Minus storage charge......

I think you sort of committed yourself to holding it for him because you told him there was no rush. Being that he is clear in Austrailia presents some problems for him.
I think you need to hold it for a while longer, but keep trying to reach him or his family. Then, when you get to the one year mark, all bets are off IMO. If you dispose of it sooner he could come back on you and claim you breached the contract to hold on to it.
I bet next time you don't utter those words.

My neighbors in the same boat right now, he sold his Indy car on Ebay about 6 months ago, to a guy in CA.. The guy paid for it but has not come to pick it up...And the Indy car was not cheap by far...
