Hey guys, I'm taking my meds and good to go. Thanks for the welcome back. I'll try to limit my responses to all things technical and shy away from personal interface situations.
I just had to get back in to answer Severson's question about rollbar tubing.
Had a good time teching Top Fuel and Funny Car at the Phoenix show last month. Will have another opportunity to do it again for 3 days of testing following the Nationals here. I think the teams were a little taken aback to have someone actually tech the car and driver in detail.
Talked with Kim Richards of the Budweiser team and asked about her dad, Dick LaHaie. She said he's doing fine, retired and living in Florida.

Well, it sure is good having you back Richard... Thanks for the clarification on the tubing, trying to find a few others around here who need some moly to get a decent sized order together and help with the freight charges!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

A couple more points for you. Manufacturing tolerances in moly of -10% are allowed, so the wall could be 0.075" and still be legal. This "fudge factor" is applicable only to moly. Mild steel must be minimum 0.118" with no allowance for undersize. Just so you know. When you do get the tubing, de-burr all ends and check the wall before you start bending.
If you decide to expand the bar into a cage later, you can continue with the 1 3/4" material or drop down to 1 5/8" for the rest of the cage.Last edited by techinspector1; 02-13-2008 at 07:10 PM.
Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
