Well it did work, the front cover won't go back on with that CD player, Sooooo, I switch hers back and will get her a new DVD player later, she doesn't real use it, so it's not a hurry!
I worked on the printer, Wizard couldn't find a driver, so I found it and it won't print,it's out of black ink! I don't know, I don't want to buy ink for it, and have it still gives me crap! I think I'll just get another printer.
The computer runs Great, always has, I just screwed it up, and now it's back the way it was! minus the printer of course
No new mother board needed, just 2008 maintenance! (change plugs & some carb cleaner)

You have at least three problems with your PC. What version of windows are you using? If it is too old, it may not be compatible with new DVD or CR rom drives. Secondly when wierd error messages pop up now, they are 99% of the time a virus, worm or spyware that is deleting things to keep you from removing it from your system. Now days when I get a error message, I cut and paste it to google and do a search. Here's what came up with yours... How To: Fix 'Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\NEWDOT~1\NEWDOT~1.DLL'
Thirdly your wife had a new computer when you swapped cd drives. Most newer versions of windows have a bank of built in drivers to recognize old hardware. Your drive thus would be recognized and work in her computer. Her drive is newer than your whole system, so your version of windows should not recognize it and be able to apply the right drivers to run it. If you have the drive software for her drive you may be able to load it as long as you both have the same operating systems. I think as a few people have stated that emminent dome lies ahead if this is a worm virus. Recently I got one that kept loading windows error messages that would pop up warning you that you need to click here to fix. It looked very legit, when you clicked the link, it would take you to web sites with correction software that really was more virus stuff. It also put a critical virus background with flames on my computer as wallpaper that I couldn't get rid of. It turned out the wallpaper was actually a running web page with the virus in it. I was running Norton 360 plus have firewalls setup on that computer. This form of worm came through as spyware, which is not filtered by Norton. I had to completely reload windows XP to get rid of it, then go to Dell and download all of the updated drivers for my computer.
I hate the little cretans who come up with this stuff. I'd love to get them in a room and let them suffer like they make us suffer trying to fix all their malicious viruses! Now I run Piriform CCleaner ( a free program that gets rid of all sorts of problems) everyday on start up. Good Luck. Steve." "No matter where you go, there you are!" Steve.

Mine is about 9 months older, the reason I switched the DVD player is because hers quit, and I put it in mine to see if it was her DVD player or the driver. My DVD player worked in hers, but hers would not work in mine, But my CD player still worked, then about a yr later my CD player did not work any more, and now didn't show up in "MY computer". I switched them back and my computer went back to normal, and her DVD player is back in hers and it still doesn't work, it's just a bad player!
The one I tried is almost 2 yrs old, it worked in hers, it just didn't fit in the face plate right.
I do not have the "NewDot" spyware virus in there any more, I removed the error yesterday, I do have the "CMEIIAPI - failed to start" but that is my Gator doing that. I did that by removing a part of it, when I did get a Spyware virus, which I did kill right away. I will fix that later (soon).
The printer has a mind of it's own at times, it screws up for both computers. (A-B switch, not networked together) it only cost $40.00 new and it is a Epson C62.
I don't believe there is anything wrong with computer, I just screwed it up!
Our last pc's,(custom made with top everything) the wife e-mailed me, and a virus came in with it, a worm, and started to e-mail parts of my Mastercam to people in mail box, and they would reply, Why did you send this to me? and I didn't! then I got my taste of the BLUE screen!! and shortly after, my wifes computer actually went up in smoke!!! and now we have Dell's!
