I liked Boyd's cars and his show but $500,000 hot rods!!?? Geez..how about a show for the guys in the $10-$25k range? Dreaming is fun but something the average garage guy can achieve on a middle class paycheck would be nice. I guess that's why I like this site so much.

I just talked to Dwayne at Boyd's, he said everything just shut down he had been fighting a blood infection of some sort. They thought it was under control a couple of weeks ago and he was coming home. He had been in the hospital since Xmas.

Sad news. Some really great cars have been associated with him.
Some people say he only hired good people and made his name off of their work, but Boyd actually built cars early on. He just saw a business opportunity in high end streetrods and jumped on it. Nothing wrong with that in my book. Somewhere I have an old mag that shows him doing lead work on a hiboy duece frame.

Adios Boyd, if it wasn't for you there be no Jesse James or Chip Foose. You will be missed.

Amen to that GeeTee, he has had more influence on the hobby than alot of people want to admit. He has created stars and some of the very best cars and will be sorely missed by all I know in the hobby."Sunshine, a street rod and a winding beautiful Ozarks road is truely Bliss!"

What a loss!!! Boyd was Boyd. For those of you who base your opinion of him on what you saw on his show, it was all crap... But hey, it made ya watch!!!!
Based on some of the cars he built, the people he introduced to this sport, and some of his innovations I only wish I could accomplish half as much in a lifetime as he did....
Do some research and look at some of his cars!!! Don't settle for the drama b/s that was on the boob tube....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

RIP Boyd.
I actually got his autograph at the SEMA show in 2005. Sad to see him go. I know many people can't stand him, but you've gotta love what he did for the automotive community.

That really is unexpected news. He was indeed a fairly public representative of our hobby and through his years, he definitely fashioned some very beautiful pieces of art. I believe that a lot of his early handy-work inspired others and helped spark a more positive public view of our hobby as a whole.
I haven't seen the show in quite a while and I didn't realize he was sick. As such, I'm stunned to hear about it, and my condolences go out to his friends and family.

Yep. And I seem to move 1 thing and it displaces something else with 1/2 of that landing on the workbench and then I forgot where I was going with this other thing and I'll see something else that...
