Radar was a joke in the Pacific at that time. In no way was the vastness of the Pacific able to have been covered to any serious degree llike England was during the Battle of Britain. There you had a known possible hostile and the direction he would come from so you could set up your equipment.
Even so there was no way to tell altitude or heading of bips on radar then. The guys on Hawaii had a very primative set with a puny antenna. They had no experience and when they did see blips they were untrained in how to tell how many or from where they were coming. The flight of B-17s from the mainland was expected anyhow.
And the whole theory of FDR knowing what was going to happen is groundlessly absurd because they had yet to break the Japanese code. 6 months later at Midway they were not sure of all code but made some good guesses.
There just weren't many P-40s in the position to be of any defensive value. Initially the P-40 pilots, and other dated planes, suffered in encounters with Zeros due to thier extreme maneuveravbility and substantial armament. Once American pilots used their planes as energy fighters they proved more survivable.
That video just makes the same assumptions that FDR and the high ups knew the japs were going to attack Pearl. Christ they didn't even know the code word for Pearl Harborm Midway, Wake or any location 6 months later when they were able to read the the cyphers! See these are the big red flags that I see when I look at this bullcrap. There are so many small things that fanatics like me know that these goofy shows pass over cause the average person doesn't know. If dogcrap was the code for Pearl in a cypher and they could read "we're going to attack docgcrap," it still doesn't tell you where or what dogcrap is!!
Even unrelated stuff shows how silly some secret organized plot was when we realize that when FDR died vice president Truman had no knowledge of the Manhattan Project!!!
Did FDR and cabinet discuss the japs might bomb Hawaii? Sure along with a multitude of other targets including San Farncisco. They were giving possible creedance to an attack on the western mainland! These BS videos make you believe what they want to lead you to by not saying some things and saying others.
It is a case of looking back with what we know afterwards to incorrectly apply that knowledge and make unwarranted conclusions. At the time before Pearl there were a flood of messages before they had broken the code. And even when they could they still worded things obtusely with other layers of codes not so apparent.
And post war investigations into who was to blame? When did we not attempt to manufacture a scape goat? Like when the captain of the Indianapolis was court marshalled.
I stopped the dumbassed video when they were alluding to the fact that cruiseline radio operators were listening to the Japanese shipe enroute to Pearl. First, radio communications would have been morse code if radio silence was broken at all and most usually it was done by semephors- flags and shuttered lights in Morse code. As if some chump on a cruise ship is going to hear and understand plain language Japanese being spoken over open airwaves and deduce it was something bad. He certainly couldn't understand Japanese language Morse.
Anyone that ardently eats up what amounts to, not lies but not telling all the truth, is looney. There is no substitute for cubic inches

Twich.... do you know Japanese Morse code?
If so, do the dashes look like this I instead of our -- ?
I heard that their dashes were 90 degrees to ours......

Well you know cruise ship radio operators wouldn't be able to decipher it. These dorks allude to it as though they were calling in the clear stuff like, "how far are we from Pearl Harbor now? Oh boy are we going to kick some round eye ass!"
They were under radio silence using shuttered lights to communicate! Conspiracy junk is always that "gimme an inch and I'll take a mile" attitude with a spec of distorted truth bolstered by bullshiit! There is no substitute for cubic inches
You've not been around here for a while, Charlie, but when you were you had GREAT projects!! Happy Birthday!!
