Don't recall seeing any White Castles around my area, but we used to have White Tower hamburger joints and the Little Taverns burger places around the Baltimore area, but haven't seen one in many, many years. I think they are all gone now. They used to offer a bag of 12 burgers for about $2. They were about the size of a silver dollar, but they were pretty damn good, especially if you were hungry and nearly broke. Another old favorite done in my the golden archese.

When in Naw'lins a few years ago (week before Katrina) I stumbled on a Krystal restaurant which was very similar to the White Tower and Little Taverns of the past. Not the cleanest place on Bourbon Street, but the food wasn't bad and it was certainly cheap. They served B, L and D 24/7.

Never had a White Castle but used to chomp down a bunch of 10 and 15 cent White Tower burgers as kid waiting for the bus after a movie matinée. Then they were gone and the only thing we have left in the capital area of NY are BK, Wendy's and McGarbage as well as the more expensive Ruby Tuesday and Red Robins.

Dang, I could eat a bag of those White Tower right now.

Kitz - I wish you would refrain from being our collective groups conscience. We KNOW that these great tasting morsels are bad for us, and I too am getting fatter, with increasing cholesterol, but we do need something to sin with

I Got my fix on White Castle burgers every year the boys and I took in the Indy 500 . I lived in Indianapolis in the late 50's ,working at Ford. A White Castle seemed to be on every corner at that time. When my oldest son graduated from High School in 1978,as a graduation gift he wanted to go to Indy.We drove from Tx.to the races each year until the boys grew up and went their way, then we would meet there for the races. Have not been in 3 years. We ate those burgers like they were going out of season.Lord I miss those times.Hmmm,Hmmm.Yummy,Yummy

Kitz, I guess I'll have to get me another Sam's card, unless you just want to Invite me over.

Joe,look's like HEB has them but not in Austin.I'll have the boss check the next trip to the grocery store, maybe put in a request for an Austin store to stock them.

I was hoping Kitz would come thru,as he has a killer roadster I'm wanting to see.
