Is it just me, or the long winter, or what?
I am normally a work maniac. I love to get up every morning and head down to my office, and just work my brains out for 8 or 8 1/2 hours designing a new machine, or an automation project ot something. I've been lucky and had pretty well non stop work for the last 8 months. For the last two weeks, I haven't felt like doing squat!! I finished up a contract last Friday, and I haven't even looked for any work this week, in case I might find some. I am having fun playing with my new lathe, trying to remember things from 40 years ago during my apprenticeship. Its colder than a witches tit outside, and snowing this morning. This is the first day of spring, and other than the fact that we switched back to "standard time" a week or two ago, you would never know it. I did have a horrible chest cold for a couple of weeks, and am just getting over it, but man, I hope my energy to "do something" comes back soon. I feel like the old fellow who complained that 'All my get up and go, got up and went!!!Old guy hot rodder

brian,
They say that Women have PMS, well, I believe us Men get something akin to it-maybe they should call it Pissy Men's Syndrome-I get it from time to time also, and it takes a bit to come out of it-could it be that we are getting older and don't have as many surprises as we used to?
Like: "Honey, I think I'm Pregnant", or: "Daddy, I think I've met a Man", Or: "Dad, I wrecked my Camaro"?
Not sure, or maybe we just need a good, swift kick every once in a while-

I love working from home!!! I wouldn't do it if I was younger and had kids still at home, or a mortgage to pay, because it certainly has ups and downs financially. However, wifeys job covers all the medical insurances, etc. and pretty well all the money I make now is gravy. I am just SO GLAD that what I do is one of those things that can be done by a one man company working from a home office. I have been doing my thing from home now for seven years, (which pretty well coincides with that magical age of 55, when you know more than you ever have in your life, but big companies no longer want to employ you in case you drop dead on them!!!)Last edited by brianrupnow; 03-20-2008 at 09:45 AM.

You are correct. It has been a long winter! Last fall I told my daughter that we would catch one of those 60 degree weekends in February and put another coat of paint on her house. Didn't happen! The only 60 degrees we saw was inside the house because gas heating is getting so expensive. And I don't want to do anything either.

It also probably is because you have done the same job for so many years. I had probably 30 different careers in my work-life because I get bored easily. I also found out I do not work well from home, it is better for me to have a place where people expect me to show up every morning, and being around the other employees gets me motivated. When I had a home office I would sit around in my underwear, talking to customers on the phone. That somehow just seemed goofy to me, not really like I had a job.
Cheer up Brian, Spring is right around the corner and you can get Tweedy out and rack up some more miles and trophies.

Long Winter?? I'd say. Yesterday the last day of Winter it was 65 here. Today the first day of Spring it's 42. Something just not right about that.
Brian, when you live within spitting distance of the North Pole, of course Winter is long for you Artic circle huggers.
When I retire I am going to move to Florida. Going to get me a full time job at the Scott's fertilizer company and get paid watching grass grow.Last edited by mopar34; 03-21-2008 at 09:55 AM.

Yeah ,winter seems to dragging along this year. Was actually pretty mild until this last month, and we never got all the sub-zero we normally would.Luckily,I have all the rest of the year to figure out how I'm going to pay off the oil bill. Thank God for my new boiler only using half the oil to heat the same space. Maybe next year there will be money to spare for the hot rod. Hank

I think this is the longest winter we have had in Indiana since I can remember. Its the first day of spring, it snowed 2 days ago, it was 58 degrees today, and now its supposed to snow in 2 days again. I usually love the snow but I am ready for it to be summer.
Live everyday like it were your last, someday it will be.

Well, it's just flat beautiful down here in the high desert of Las Vegas. Mid 70's the past couple days. Been getting caught up on neglected yard work.Your Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

Bob, We've all got out crosses to bear---I was in Vegas two years ago in early August. It was 82 degrees in Ontario when we left, and 112 degrees in Vegas.Old guy hot rodder
