All right, I guess I'll be a lone voice here, DON'T SELL IT. I don't know if I have read your posts, I've not been on here much, but the pics look like you have put a lot of work in that car and it is nice.
Dave I think has an unusual take on things, most people get attached to the projects they put a lot of time and money in, unless they have gotten to do a few and then probably it gets easier
I have sold many things in my life, usually when I thought I needed money, and in every case I later regretted it. you will always have bills, you will always have things that come up, you can't always replace possessions. the money I got was usually less than what was invested in it and there are many things I sold that I can never replace for one reason or another, and others that will cost me much much more to duplicate. (not cars mind you, we're talking things that only in the hundreds and thousands but still).
Here are two car ones for you though. My dad had a 1950 ford coupe that had been in the family since purchased, from his grandfather I think to his uncle to him. my mom hated the fact that he had it, it was in great shape and sitting on the side of the house hidden by a fence, even ran still!!! she harassed him till he sold it. he regretted it the rest of his life, he'd have been better off storing it at a friends and telling her he sold it (yes, I just condoned lying to a spouse).
when I was 16 years old my parents sold my 1965 mustang fastback that my grandmother had bought new, because they couldn't make the house payment. I don't know about them but I sure frickin' regret it. I had a huge sentimental attachment to it, still miss it. My grandmother and I were very close and it was a tangible reminder of her. if I ever come into some money I want to track it down and buy it if it hasn't been butchered.
get a storage locker to put it in, what, 50 bucks a month, get enclosed not outdoor. or ask a friend, you must know somebody. It sounds like you're in a hard spot, but it gets better. and I don't know the deal with your old man, maybe he's a total dick, maybe you don't get along. but it doesn't sound like he's kicking you out, sounds like he's gonna have to leave too. until you're in a guys shoes you don't know what they're going through trying to hold onto things. and if you haven't owned a home yet and had that kind of responsibility you can't know the stress. my family lost their home, it's hardest on the person that is supposed to be providing that roof. I may be off base on that because I don't know your whole situation, so forget it if I'm wrong. I just wanted to throw it out in case you were being a bit narrow in your view of things.

motors on the engine stand would only take a day or 2 to clean everything up and drop it in. yes i do ahve alot of time and learning into just the motor this time around, im glad i didnt race this last year "07" i learned 10x what i could have ever thought, i learned alot about heads/valvetrain and genral engine machining. but i am in a hard spot i dont know anybody that i can "trust" to hold my car to many people i know are complete potheads who become idiots 5 minutes into a conversation. 5 of my friends dropped out of school and are potheads with min wage jobs. i cannot trust anybody to even be a roomate at an APT there so unpredictable. i am leaning heavily towards going down to houston or pheonix for school and bringing the car with me. least in AZ it wont rust sitting outside!? :d

after 23 years of owning it and busting every knuckle you have on it. All the blood sweat and tears, not to mention money and time invested. It sounds like you love the car to have held on this long. Sure there are lots of cars to buy, but usually you are buying someone elses headache, thats usually why they are selling it. Buy a good car cover if you have to and hang on as long as you can.
Now go to e-bay and search down all the cars just like yours and watch the auction all the way through. You will sadly see that 98% do not sell at all. And the ones that do have no reserve attached and the owner probably backs out on the sale. I watch at least 10 auctions a week to see the out come. A boat load of people are in the same sittuation as yourself, and the others are looking for a steal. In this case its cheaper to keep her as long as you can, once its gone you cant get it back. Sorry to hear of your sittuation and hope for the best for you.
I about let my car go thats been in the family for 28 years now, and luckily a few great people on this board talked my dumbazz out of it. Its still looking pretty sitting in my garage, Thanks again to those who helped me see the light. there is a light there see it !Last edited by mooneye777; 03-22-2008 at 05:31 AM.

Your car will always go up in value, so if you could hang on to it, the price will continue to go up. I have found out over the years that no matter how bad times are there still are people with money. That's what I always told my wife. I sold a 55 Chevy last year, the car is gone plus the money. We made it someway some how when I kept it for 10 years. If you have to have it outside try to get actual valve of the car to have insurance just incase some thief would want to take your car. If you have to leave it outside for any length of time pull the steering wheel and put chains on it plus what ever else you can think of to keep it from being stolen.

i agree with the others , i would try and keep the car , we are in a car glut at the moment and prices are down anyway ... best of luck on whatever you decide..

Hey Scooter,if you like I can ask my daughters over in CdA if either one has a garage space available. They both live just off Ramsey just a few blocks apart. Might not pan out,but I will ask if you say so. Hank
